Description
Quality reed designed by professions with professional players in mind.

Rico Reserve Classic Alto Saxophone Reeds
Rico Reserve Classic reeds are designed by professional working saxophonists, not some CADCAM program that has analyzed other popular reeds. Rico Reserve Classic alto sax reeds feature a thicker reed blank for more resonant sound and are file cut which enhances their flexibility. They are made from lower-internode cane, a cane type that is internationally known for its consistency. Rico Reserve Classic alto reeds are available in 3.0+ strength, a rarity in alto reeds, in fact, as of this publishing, Rico Reserve Classics are unique in this regard.

These reeds feature warmer tone, quicker articulation, and amazing consistency. They are already endorsed in by such organizations as the Chicago Symphony, Cincinnati Symphony, San Francisco Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony, Atlanta Symphony, and University of North Texas among others.

Rico's Reserve line of reeds is a genuinely outstanding product, affording the player the tonal richness, response, and consistency that professional performance situations demand. The Reserve Classic is an especially refined reed, capable of tonal purity and core at the greatest dynamic extremes. Clarity of articulation is superb, with no low-register heaviness. I enthusiastically recommend these reeds to all of my students and colleagues!

These reeds are THE BEST alto sax reeds I have ever used. After years of Vandorens, I have made the switch. I used them on clarinet first and then tried them on alto. They have a rich sound that I love with great response from the bottom to the top of the horn. I am currently using 3's on my S80 C* but may try 3+'s soon.

For the concert/classical saxophonist, Rico really hit the nail on the head with this one!!! What a home run!!! These reeds are the most consistent I have encountered; they break in quickly and have a beautiful, warm, smooth, centered sound that plays with an unparalleled homogeneity in all the registers! Also, the "3.0+" strength is a great idea, and ensures even more consistency. Please note that I am a skeptic that has written scathing reviews of reeds, but in this case, I can just say "Bravo, Rico!"

Great Reed excellent response I was using Vandorean Reeds Javas and Standard Reeds 3.5. But I found that Vandorean Reeds were very stiff and to to blow. But when I used the classics I was amazed how easy they were also 3.5's great sound. And great response.

I ordered a box of these (got them free with the Rico Challenge promo) and a box of Java Red Vandoren reeds for my alto and my tenor. The only reason why I'm giving these reeds four stars is because of the inconsistency. They're consistent in the realm of playability, but one reed I played was extremely buzzy (similar to a Vandoren Java Green reed)and the next I tried was really dark and warm. I wouldn't have tried these reeds if it wasn't for the Rico Challege, but I'm glad I tried them. They're great for jazz work and for classical work as well.
