These reeds allow for depth and warmth of sound. They do run hard, so if you're switching over, you'll want to drop at least .5 on your strength. I switched over from V16 red box 3.5 to Reserve 2.5 and find them to be only every so slightly under the V16. A great reed option from Rico
Rico's Reserve line of reeds is a genuinely outstanding product, affording the player the tonal richness, response, and consistency that professional performance situations demand.
The Reserve tenor is a refined reed, capable of tonal purity and core at the greatest dynamic extremes. Clarity of articulation is superb, with no low-register heaviness. Consistency within a box is very high, in the 80% or more range. I enthusiastically recommend these reeds to all of my students and colleagues!
The Rico Reserve Tenor Reeds are fantastic! I only use them for classical/concert music and they sound warm, rich, centered, and smooth. I suggest keeping them in the Rico cases that maintain the humidity; that way they stay great even longer. The way these reeds are cut gives you a great degree of control and homogeneity to the sound as well. It is important to note, however, that these reeds are just SLIGHTLY harder than Vandoren Traditional reeds of the same number.
