Detailed Product Description

Without a French File

The file is the area behind the vamp where the bark is sanded off in a straight line. It provides freedom of response, especially in the low register, making soft attacks and subtones easier. The file also makes the tone slightly brighter.

Wen I first tried one, it took a little while to break in. But after it did, WOW. They play great and last pretty long. They can growl when you need them too, and they even sound great on classical pieces. Now that I have been using them for a while, it doesn't take as long to break them in for some reason, but that doesn't bother me one bit. And the 3-way grading system of soft, medium, and hard allows you to get as close to your perfect strength as possible. Great reeds.
