This review is for someone who wants to amplify a classical guitar with an acoustic amp. I haven't seen one review online like that when I did my research. I've now found my amp - the Roland AC60. I spent some time with a few lower end acoustic amps (Marshall, Fender Acoustasonic 30, Behringer ACX1000, Crate15A) and while I am going to pay a little more for this amp, it's worth it. I will be performing miked with a Shure SM-57 on a John Mills/Asturias cedar-top classical guitar. I am not into CGs with onboard mics. I was looking for the amp that had warm & classy reverb, was quiet, easy to use, had a separate XLR input and was portable. This amp fits the bill great. The fact that it is mountable on a PA stand is a bonus. I love it. The natural-sounding classic Roland reverb, on high, makes me sound exactly like an overproduced classical guitar CD. :) (That's a good thing, but turn the reverb down when it's time for others to listen!) Really, it makes me sound better, as opposed to the other amps I tried, which made me sound worse. I like this amp. Yea Roland!
It turned up on my short list. Went to town to try it out. Nice! Went back again a second time and I now own it. Weight, it's not a big deal until you have carried it several hundred times. At 22 lbs it does make a difference, it's light and I like that. It fills every room that I have put it into so far. Last gig was a medium size room, seats about 100 people and I was with a group of African drummers. My Zeta fiddle and my Roland amp made me sound like I knew what I was doing. There are better amps, but you pay a lot more money and add a bunch more weight. For the price, at this weight, its a great small amp. Find one and try it out, then my experience will become your knowledge. Always play music and the best of luck to the both of us.
After reading up on this amp, I tried it out. I play many styles in several groups and solo, so I was looking for a multipurpose amp, clean sound, portability, and quality. I got this amp to replace a Behringer ACX1000 which was extremely flexible, but lacked quality, top-notched sound. It also weighed in at 60lbs which was borderline portable. Found it in this amp. I demo'ed it with a Taylor and immediately knew it was a sale. I use this amp for small solo gigs, mainly playing instrumental jazz with a Boss DR-880 drum/bass machine. I plug the 880 into the aux input and run my Variax Acoustic into channel 1 and my ES-135 into channel 2. If needed, I'll put a mike into Ch 2 for announcing and light singing. This amp is extremely versatile and loud enough unless you're just playing too darn loud. And it just weighs about 22lbs!! I have used it in med. sized room with about 75-100 folks and it's plenty. The speaker stand mount comes in handy. Use it. The sound from this amp is a clean reproduction of your acoustic instrument. Reverb/Delay adequate as is the chorus. I like the control layout and the rear panel offers many options such as stereo line out, subwoofer out, several aux-in options and footswitch controls of 4 functions. Wish the footswitches came with the box. The carrying case is a very nice extra. I can walk into the gig with a guitar on one shoulder, my amp on the other, and setup in no time. So far, I have not found anything I don't like, unless it's the top mounted controls being hard to get to when stand mounted. Minor inconvenience. Don't let the size fool you. Don't let the price scare you. This is a great amp.
It sounds very good, and puts out some decent volume - don't be fooled by the size. The mic channel sounds very good too, like a PA. Great amp, worth checking out
