I have these locks on all of my guitars. It makes changing out guitars on stage very simple for me. It seems much easier for me to change the strap from one guitar to the next than to have to have straps on every guitar. Also, I have never had a strap fall off of a guitar with these, and I get a little crazy at times. There are two problems with these. First, the nut that holds the lock to the strap itself can come loose. You need to tighten it before every gig, and if you are insane on stage and sling your guitar around a lot, you need to check it and hand-tighten it if necessary during your show...otherwise your guitar might go flying. Also, the screws used for the strap buttons with this system are slightly smaller than most of those used to hold standard strap buttons onto a guitar. This means that they WILL strip out of the wood eventually if used "as is." There are several fixes out there for this, and most of them work just fine. I used a plastic wood compound to fill my screw holes and then installed the buttons and they have never come out.
I have placed Schaller strap locks on all my most important electric guitars. I have to VERY favorite straps, and don't want to constantly change the strap mountings on my different instruments. I've placed the Schaller strap lock cup ends on my straps, and the posts on my guitars - just pick up a strap, pick up a guitar, and click them together.
This has saved me countless hours of popping strap ends on and off, as well as all those ungainly ways to place a guitar in its case with a strap attached.
