I always wanted to try this mouthpiece out, and ended up actually trading for it a couple months ago. It is a ton of fun to play with up in the high/extreme high register. On a standard 3C I can usually play up to about an altissimo a (well) but when I put in this mouthpiece it was so much easier! I played all the way up to a G above double C with this piece. HOWEVER, this is not an all around mouthpiece. I think that it is only good for high register playing. When playing down low, you tend to bottom out and get a really fuzzy sound.
Review: Note Registers: some people refer to it as "slotting" and I would like to comment that this mouthpiece has very accurate and 'lock-in' set once a note is firmly played and cannot go anywhere unless a deliberate action is taking. Rim: The inner countour is fairly gradual, and the rim feels flat- which can be a bonus if you play long gigs of which you are expected to perform for demanding parts. Tone: Compared to the other mouthpiece i use which is a deep cup, the tone sounds very bright and present. With minimal effort you can rip through a section (think 'bullet') Articulations: this shallow cup will destroy you if your articulation is incorrect (such as on the teeth) as it is improper, and will force you to use the tongue properly or you will crack notes. Blow: If you breath properly, a note should come out very easily and be well sustained as volume is easily achievable. Range: A note to beggeners looking to ext. range through mouthpieces (Highschoolers looking at 14A4A bach 3E etc.) No mouthpiece will extend no range, but it may brighten it Side note: Gold plating is 24K and dark, unlike bach's use of a gold allow (which my sweat/saliva ate through) and should last indefinitely.)
