Description
Large shank trombone mouthpiece by a leading manufacturer.

Schilke Standard Large Shank Trombone Mouthpiece in Silver
The Schike large shank trombone mouthpiece is among the most popular, well-reviewed mouthpieces in the world. They fit commonly into what are sometimes called symphony tenors, that is to say horns with a .547" bore. These are also common in the band world, and are the most common size among orchestral players. Some jazzers use a big horn too. Bass bones, .560" bore like a Bach 50, accept large shank mouthpieces as well.

"great for high range"

A friend recommended the Schilke 47. It has a smaller and more shallow cup than I am accustomed to playing, but I find if I am required to play in the high range at or near the end of a long period or day of playing, I can switch to the 47 for less exertion with no noticeable loss of tone.

"Incredible mouthpiece for lowbrass players."

I bought the Schilke 58 bass trombone mouthpiece two months ago, and it is an amazing mouthpiece. I am primarily a tuba player, but have found that the large cup helps to give my playing the darker sound, on my smaller Eb tuba and my trombone, that I get out of my large tuba. I instantly fell in love with the mouthpiece and proceeded to buy one for my large horn. And, I would have to say that, if you are looking for a mouthpiece that is worth every penny that you are spending on it, then a Schilke mouthpiece is what you want.

I bought the Schilke 53 and my flexibility is much better along with my tone and stamina at the end of the day. It's really a comfortable mouthpiece.

I bought a Schilke 51 D and I have used this mouthpiece on May trombones. All of which the mouthpiece gives a deeper and darker tone which everyone loves. The only problem I see with this mouthpiece is that due to the nature of the bowl/cup the player has to mold their embouchure to the mouthpiece more then others. But over all it's worth the money and is an excellent mouthpiece for anyone who wants something bigger then the standard 61/2 AL.

"60"

the 60 is the biggest and one of the finest bass trombone mouthpieces on the market today. everything from middle C to pedal C responds and sounds better than the 1 1/2G i used to use. anything beyond high F has reduced a lot for me, so i turn back to the small 1 1/2G for a balance of both registers. the pedals are absolutely huge in sound and volume. i have tested it playing the first few phrases of toccata and fugue in D minor with 3 of my friends. you can growl without reserve.
