Schilke Tuning Slide GreaseSchilke has developed their tuning slide grease to meet the requirements for easy to use slides but it does not break down as the horn warms up. This keeps the tuning slides from shifting while the horn is being played. This is a very popular product.

I use Schilke slide grease on all my horns tuning slides. It only takes a little bit and it lasts forever. If you clean the slide first, it provides a silky smooth feel, doesn't stick and it works equally well on brand new tight slides or real old sloppy slides. It's the best there is. Buy it, forget about it.
I have been playing my Schilke B5 since 1971. This was the grease that came with the horn. The slides (even after some prolonged storage periods) have never become stuck! This can be thinned with Al Cass valve oil to whatever consistancy you need (or like) to keep the first and third slides operating smoothly. I don't usually waste my time writing reviews, but I was surprised how few there were considering the quality and value of this product. A little does go a long way.
The quality of this is fantastic. It keeps thing moving better than any other slide grease I tried. The only problem is, if you play a 5 valve tuba with nine large slides, the small container does not last more then 3-4 greasings.
I?ve been using this grease for 2 years. I?ve compared this to super slick tuning slide grease and this is a lot better and last longer. It?s just a pain to wash it off your hand after applying.
I just got this 2 days ago and I was surprised that it was so small(width of a nickel), I used it on my Strad because it was not sliding well. I put it on and played. it worked beautifully, but of course you get it all over your hands, and it is hard to wash off. It is very good, but their is very little. I would suggest it, it will probably last a while.
I've been playing for about 15 years now, and this is the only slide grease I use. It came with a care kit when I started band in 6th grade, and all these years later, I'm only on my 4th, maybe 5th jar. The stuff lasts forever and then some, and the quality can't be beat.
I've had a few different greases that I've used, but this stuff is my favorite so far. It lasts a while, and works well on new tight slides and older corroded ones as well. One important safety tip though, if you have loose slides, don't use this, especially if you play Euphonium or tuba. This stuff is really slick and will cause your slides to just drop, no kidding. Aside from that, this is great stuff.
I have used many others before, but nothing works better than this. After cleaning my slides, I applied a little of this and there you go! Sometimes when you play the slide moves back into your instrument (trombone) because of the condensation build up. Small problem, but easy to fix. Just wipe off the water and go. It?s always better safe than sorry. *only if you apply to much.
