Selmer Paris S80 Series Baritone Saxophone MouthpieceThe Selmer S80 tenor saxophone mouthpiece is a popular design, and one of the biggest sellers in the marketplace. It is constructed from hard rod rubber, which lends it outstanding stability, accuracy and consistent facings. Whereas most mouthpieces have an arched cross-section in the chamber, the S80 is square. Students stepping up from a stock mouthpiece will experience a dramatic improvement in register changes and tonguing immediately in terms of tone and response.Model C: Tip: Close (1.90) / Facing: Med (27.00)Model C*: Tip: Medium Close (2.00) / Facing: Medium (27.00)Model C**: Tip: Medium (2.05) / Facing: Medium (27.00)Model D: Tip: Medium (2.10) / Facing: Medium (27.00)Model E: Tip: Medium Open (2.20) / Facing: Medium (27.00)Model F: Tip: Medium Open (2.40) / Facing: Medium (27.00)Model G: Tip: Open (2.60) / Facing: Medium (27.00)

This is the best mouthpiece that there is for this type of concert band. It produces a smooth well blending tone and produces a easy speaking tone. I've used this mouthpiece on both Selmer and Yanigasawa bari saxes.
For any classical kind of playing, whether it be in concert band or playing classical saxophone repertoire, this mouthpiece is perfect. In conjunction with my Mark VI bari, it allows for good intonation and a full bodied tone from low A up to top F and even into the altissimo register, and through that range, even down to low A, the full dynamic range from pianissimo all the way up to fortissimo is available. It also allows for great variety in the tone quality of the instrument, being able to blend nicely with the beautiful sound of bassoons and bass clarinets, fortify the roundness of the tuba section, or be 'honky' when needed. Using the C*, I have some trouble playing loud enough occasionally, and it is definitely not suitable for playing in a jazz big band.
If you want a dark full-bodied tone, get this mouthpiece. I played on the vandoren optimum for awhile and it was ok, but I switched to this and my tone was amazingly better. All of my directors complimented me on my tone. Anytime i play the bari now, i play with confidence and i sound great!
If you've been playing on a beginner piece and decided and/or kinda over powering the instrument moving to the Selmer S80 would be a good choice and is well worth the price. It projects well with almost any brand of sax, I've use it on my yamaha and two selmers my school provides(old and broken, but still good) and it works great, but be sure you get the right size mouthpiece to fit you not the instrument, I personally use the C**, but only after discovering the regular C was too small
