Pros

    Cons

    • buzzy
    • spine not aligned in center of reed
    • two square pieces of cane missing from tip

Comments about Singin' Dog Handmade Bassoon Reed:

I was initially very excited to receive this reed, but was extremely disappointed when I got it. The reed came with an unaligned spine, and the tip had two chips in it. With a combination of this and the cane just not being the best, it was extremely buzzy, far too bright, and at times even sounded like a saxophone. I initially didn't even want to play on this reed because I could tell it was not going to work. Hopefully will be sending mine back.

Best Commercial Reed I've Ever Had

Comments about Singin' Dog Handmade Bassoon Reed:

These are amazing reeds. One thing you will notice right away is how little "break-in" they take before they are ready to play. Their tone is excellent and covers almost the entire range (after break-in, they are a little weak on the extreme high Rube Goldberg range -- viz., above high-C, but to compensate, they are extremely focused and responsive in the low "thumb" range. ) The also last a long time. It may simply be that they fit my mouth well, but these are the best commercial reeds I have ever played on.
