Comments about Sonare 800 Series Bb Trumpet:

I've owned this horn for about a month now and played it every day. The cliche responses of "great trumpet for the money" and "just like a Bach" etc, etc. all apply... I like to add a few additional insightful thoughts. The construction quality is excellent. This horn has the nicest solder-work I've ever seen on a brass instrument! No gaps in any of the ferrules or braces. I think that is HUGELY important to the final sound. All the cool brass alloys in the world are useless if the horn goes "THUD" when you flick it. The cosmetic impression of the horn is just a tiny notch behind, say a strad... sighting down the bell you can just make out residual ripples left over from turning the bell on the forming mandrel. Totally minor, and it would take a very critical and picky eye to see, but there. The valve alignment system is simple and elegant. They've enlarged the valve guide channel on the spring box, made it wider, then used a nylon (or similar plastic) piece that fits that enlarged channel but doesn't extend out far enough to index the valve in the cylinder. For that task the folks at Sonare used a brass valve guide that is stacked on top of the plastic piece that ultimately indexes with the slot in the cylinder. The brass valve guide is considerably narrower than the valve guide channel allowing several degrees of correction in radial alignment. I know my description may not be the most elegant, but once you see the finished product, you'll agree it's simple, elegant and effective. Overall the horn sounds like a million bucks! Leans toward bright and zippy, but I play a Vinnie Bach 5b, which tames the tingles a bit. Excellent scale! 2nd D and E are right on, not flat... low D and C# are lip-able, or pull the third slide a bit.. no prob! Fine upper register. Horraay! for two standard water keys! I hate amado's!! I'm very happy with it!

Comments about Sonare 800 Series Bb Trumpet:

I use my Sonare Bb and C trumpets for absolutely everything I do professionally as a Symphony trumpet player. I have spent vast sums of money on all the top name brands of standard and custom horns including Monette, and my Sonares are the best and least expensive horns I've used. This is the best horn you can buy!

Excellent horn! Look out Bach!

Comments about Sonare 800 Series Bb Trumpet:

All I can say is, WOW! This horn is better than any Bach I have ever played. Has a nice, even feel and response in all registers. The sound projects very well. The intonation is very good (of course, it still has the bad notes like C# and D etc.). This horn has a very nice sound for all the places that I play (orchestra, school, church). The only disadvantage is that it is a little on the heavy side. If you are choosing between a Sonare and a Bach, pick the Sonare!

Comments about Sonare 800 Series Bb Trumpet:

My lesson teacher and I decided that it was time for me to get a new horn since I had far out grown my old one. She was a Sonare artist and suggested that I try one out. We spent all day running all over town playing my Sonare against countless other horns and we both agreed, none could match the intonation, response, resonance, or colors my horn could create. Not to mention, it was also less expensive than a majority of those horns too. I definitely recommend Sonare trumpets over any other major brand on the market today.
