Comments about Soundwear Professional Trumpet Case:
This is a high quality bag, but before you buy it be aware that it is a bag and NOT a hard case. The description says "1.75-inch interior padding plus a 1/4-inch laminated hard shell", but I would not call it a shell. It feels like there is a plastic insert under the foam, but the case does not have a solid frame. It could probably take a hit but it will squish and bend if pressure is applied (I can bend it in almost in half when it's empty). If you sat on it or if it was on the bottom of a pile of heavy stuff (tubas?) your horn would be crushed. The Cordura exterior seems very sturdy, and you can choose to use the shoulder strap, backpack straps, or neither. I think the picture on the website is an old model, but the only difference I noticed was in the pocket. The version I received has three layers of outside pocket, which seems unnecessary, but they are pretty cool. Enough space to store pretty much anything you need, and the largest pocket fits a small book (about 6" wide). That pocket also has a fold-out pouch that I assume is for sheet music (you would have to fold the music). The pouch looks waterproof (I haven't tested it) which would be handy for storing phones or other electronics if you're in the rain. Because the zipper is not in a straight line it can be a little awkward to zip/unzip. I'm a little concerned that the shape might cause the zipper to wear out and break, but so far so good. The case is a little bigger than it looks on the website. Approximate dimensions: Bell end - 8x8 3/4" Leadpipe end - 6(including pocket)x 7 1/2" Length is about 22" The foam on the inside takes a few days to form to a horn and at first I thought it was going to cause damage, but it just needed some time to break in. I like this case a lot. It's a bit pricey for a single, but it's well made. I think it could be a little smaller, and if it had a real hard shell/solid frame it would be pretty much perfect, but as is it's still really nice.
