This guitar gives a lot for the price. I bought the antique burst with maple fretboard standard model over a year ago. This guitar has a great feel and finish. It was surprising to see the quality of workmanship considering the price. Make no mistake about it, this guitar has the the strat sound bell like tones on the bridge and warm sound on the neck pickups, and the 5 way switch makes it a very versatile contender with Mexican and low end US models. Very surprising, considering the price. The original neck setup and intonation required some minor adjustments as well as the tremolo. I had to add the extra spring to acheive balance. (3 total) These adjustments were nothing major and the Fender site plus other Strat tip sites give easy to follow guidance. Once all was said and done it has been a great guitar. Overall, I would say that I have been very pleased with this guitar and it plays much better than an entry level student model.
Fantastic value for a quality product like this! I did have to add 3 additional Tremolo springs...to stabilize tuning and have the bridge pickup wired for tone control. Minor work for additional happiness.
Like everyone else says... this is a fine guitar for the money. Needed a little set up upon arrival: action a bit high, tremelo spring anchor needed some tightening, intonation slightly off, a couple of frets weren't hammered in at quite the right angle. But, hey! I'm nit picking. For this price it looks and sounds like a Strat. Heck, for all intents and purposes it IS a Strat (albeit, comparable to a MIM Strat). If you're a beginner, take it to your local luthier and spend a few bucks for a set up. You'll really appreciate it. If you can do it yourself, all the better! NOTE: I got the Antique Burst. Mine's really more of a blood-red burst (emphasizing *red*) than the yellow/orange burst in the pic and what you might expect from an *antique* burst. Still spectacular looking. The Tort Pickguard is really cool, too!
Very good guitar. Very good value.Great for beginners or advanced musicians.
This guitar had the sound I was looking for. And for the price, nothing beats it! Awesome!
Even though this is my first real electric guitar, I find it to be, overall, a really awesome guitar. It was farily priced for its quality and the sound is excellent. If you are a begginer or if you have been playing for years, this guitar will fit your needs. I would not plan on buying a new one for at least five years. I use this in my church band, and it works great! I couldnt ask for anything better, and for the price, nothing can beat it.
The truth about this guitar is it's a pretty good guitar, but it's really heavy and the neck isn't made for fast, easy playability. The necks almost got to much friction to it unlike Fender Strats where the neck much easier to play on and it's not as heavy. But like anything else you get what you pay for if your looking at this I'd recommend the Squier Affinity series Strat. Especially for beginners.
This is a great guitar. It has easy action and great sound. It is definitely worth the money.
After 20 plus years of playing guitar, I have to admit this one sounds beautiful. All the Squire guitars are a step above the rest. I'Il always recommend Squire Strats - whether a beginner or for playing around the garage - this guitar is simply the best.
It's a good starting point. What surprises me about this guitar is that it's always in tune even you use the wammy bar intensively. If this is your first time owning a guitar, get this one. It won't give you the sound Fender strats does but it's good enough to play a good variety of music.
