Simply stunned by the quality of this guitar at a bargain basement price! 7th strat I have purchased over the years, and far exceeds what I thought possible from Squier. I bought a Squier strat back in '91, and it was playable, but nothing approaching this guitars refinements. The '91 had a plywood body with red plastic coating, cheap tuners, single ply pick guard, but for $245 back then for a lefty I didn't complain. I expected this guitar to have some of the same old cheap features, but was buying it for neck to replace on one of my more expensive guitars. Yet, I opened the box and for $229 I found a beautiful solid gumwood body (Agathis trees are a good source for this in Australia and Asia), Nice 3 ply tortoise shell pick guard, solid die cast tuners, and the cool large headstock, complete with floating pivot bridge. Be patient adjusting it though, I readjusted the neck, bridge, tremolo block and got it to where I want it, but it takes time to get the feeling just right! Otherwise, if you can live with the Squier name on it, you can have a high quality guitar for a cheap price, which far exceeds the ones Squier made years ago.
