Comments about Standard Ligatures:
I have one of these for Bb Clarinet and am very pleased with it. The inner surfaces of the ligature contacting the reed are perfectly flat, and the ligature is made of metal sufficiently rigid to not stretch or deform around the sides of the reed. It will also hold any adjustments you may make to the shape of the ligature--I was able to reshape mine to perfectly fit my vintage Woodwind Company mouthpiece, and it's kept the adjustments very precisely. Additionally, the screws give excellent feedback when tightening--it's easy to feel just when the ligature is beginning to compress against the reed, ensuring accurate tension adjustment every time. I get lively response, a beautiful and complex tone with no breathiness or undertones, crisp articulation, and superb projection when using this ligature. Though this is a basic 2-screw metal ligature, it's not the same flimsy and cheap lig you'll find included with a student clarinet. I have other ligatures on hand that cost many times more than this plain old 2-screw model, but none do a better job.
