The LTD-2016 "Decoy" is a beautiful guitar that lovingly expresses the more than fifty years of guitar-making art at the Takamine factory in Sakasita, Japan. Intricate inlays delicately and artfully portray the Japanese fishing technique known as "Tomozuri", used to catch the Wild Ahu, or "Watermelon Fish" so called because of its similarly sweet smell and taste.
This fascinating technique celebrated within the Gifu Prefecture (where Takamine's hometown is located) utilizes the territorial behavior of the Ahu fish by introducing a live, hooked decoy fish which the angry Ahu will then attack in dramatic fashion. Between the Ahu's extremely spirited nature and the fast-flowing rivers and rapids in which they dwell, pulling in the "Watermelon Fish" is known as a challenging and exhilarating experience.
This truly inspiring instrument features striking flame maple on its arched top, back, sides, and headstock. The green-blue burst finish in the abalone-lined flame maple recalls the Kiso river that runs through the valley below the Takamine factory. It includes Takamine's legendary Palathetic pickup, and CTP 3 CoolTube preamp for effortless stage use.
The Takamine LTD-2016 guitars are built in limited quantity with a combination of design and features that will never be duplicated. Includes hardshell case.
