I JUST PURCHASED THIS GUITAR FROM WWBW, I HAVE MANY GUITARS, BUT THIS IS THE BEST ACOUSTIC FOR THE MONEY, THAT I OWN. BEAUTIFUL FINISH, BEAUTIFUL TONE, BUILT IN TUNER, IT SOUNDS GREAT PLUGGED INTO AN AMP OR UNPLUGGED.THE ACTION ON THIS GUITAR IS PERFECT, IT CAME PERFECTLY SET UP, IT'S EASY TO PLAY,I DON'T WANT TO PUT IT DOWN.THE FREE CASE IS SO NICE. I WENT TO GUITAR CENTER AND THEY HAD NOTHING THIS GOOD AT NEAR THIS PRICE & NO FREE CASE, THIS GUITAR LOOKS & PLAYS LIKE A 2800.00 GIBSON. I LOVE IT, IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A AC/ELEC JUMBO GUITAR WITH BIG SOUND & GREAT LOOKS,THIS IS A QUALITY GUITAR.
I was seriously considering buying a Gibson J180EC priced at $1,200.00, when I decided to check out the Takamine EG523SC. I'm Glad I did! The Takamine is very similar in size, stying, and playability but at less than half the price of the Gibson. It also has features such as a built in tuner, that the Gibson does not have. The mother of pearl and abalone inlays adds a touch of class that is very appealing to the eye. When this guitar is sitting on a stand, it just lights up the room. It's absolutely drop dead gorgeous. After taking it out of the box, all I had to do was tune it. The setup was just the way I like it. The action was nice and low, the intonation was right on the money. Every note was clear on every string on every fret. No fret buzz whatsoever. I'm a guitar tech and do all my own setup work, but with this one, all I had to do was tune it and play it. Yes, it's true, this guitar is slightly smaller than a full size jumbo. To give you an idea as to it's size, it's the same size as a Gretsch 6120, or an Epiphone Emperor or Sheraton. Keep in mind the Takamine is a flat top and the ones I mentioned are arch tops. The body dimensions are still the same. The lower bout on the Takamine measures 16 3/4 inches wide. The lower bout on a jumbo measures 17 1/8 inches wide. The overall body length of the Takamine is 20 1/2inches from the neck joint to the strap button. The jumbo is 21 inches. That's hardly a difference to complain about. This Takamine can hold it's own against any jumbo on the market today. It's a pleasure to own and play. The folks at WWBW are awesome to deal with. This guitar came with a free Takamine TKL hardshell case, at the same price other dealers were charging for the same guitar without a case. What's not to like?
Having very high expectations about this guitar, I was more than pleased when it arrived a day EARLY! If you're considering this guitar, you're already impressed with the looks. It looks every bit as good as the picture and I have found the sound to be nothing short of outstanding. I have been playing as a hobby for about 30 years. I will concur that I was expecting a bit more volume unplugged, but that for my taste, was a function of the factory strings, they are cheesey. I immediately put on a new set of Martins and it brightened up considerably. The set up of my guitar was astonishingly precise and exactly how I would have it. As fast as possible with zero buzz. Zero. I didn't have any of the issues a few of the reviews listed with respect to set up. I can't say enough about that. I never expected it to be that good. It's like I was right there telling the guy what I wanted. The guitar came pretty as the picture like a brand new baby perfect, packaged extremely well. The hardshell case weighs about a thousand pounds. I couldn't believe how heavy it was. Overall the guitar is a sheer beauty and I am an immediate fan of WWBW. I have my own story regards the great deal I received. Simply stated, no one came close to 123's price. No one.
I have this guitar and the eg334sbc. Both great guitars, but I would have to say that this one sounds just as good as the 334, maybe not as powerful, but it does sound great. It is also a little cheaper, and is probably one of the most amazing looking guitars for the price. It is hard to find a guitar in this price range that has any extra design or flashiness. This was an excellent buy for me. I can not put this guitar down, except for when I write a review on it. But other than that, never.
Very sweet guitar. The high end is some of the best I have heard out of an acoustic. The on-board tuner is great! The action was a little high, but a quick sand of the bridge and tighten of the neck is not uncommon fresh out of the factory. Great deal and great price. A review I read here said it isn't very loud, but mine projects excellent. I do home recording and this really cleaned up my sound.
