I purchased the antique honey maple kit. I wanted something that was easy to schlep around from gig to gig but still had a good sound. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of these drums. The shells are beautifully finished and the hardware is innovative and well made. The bass drum mounted tom holder/cymbal arm is unique and well thought out. The cymbal stands have a wide base and the cymbal holders have a neat feature which enables you to spin off the wing nuts without the worry of losing them. The tom holders, cymbal stands and snare stand all have ball and socket tilters enabling any possible angle to be set. The hi-hat stand has a swivel base allowing it to be set on uneven surfaces and still stand upright. The bass drum pedal is fully adjustable and comes with a beater counterweight with a specially designed beater with an extremely smooth action. Both pedals come complete with anchor screws to avoid slipping. The toms all come with isolation mounts included. I found the heads to be more than adequate (and I'm usually very picky about heads), in fact I like them very much. One more thing: These drums sound GREAT! Unbelievable for such small drums. Everyone comments on how good they sound. If you're looking for a portable set, look no further, you won't find any better. I also purchased the cases. They are quality made and custom fit. The only improvement I would make is to put wheels and an extendable handle on the hardware bag as the hardware is heavy even though it is single braced (probably because it's steel rather than pot metal like so many other brands).

OK fellow drummers, your reading this because you've been shopping for a compact set of drums. I'm here to tell you that you will love the GoKit. Be sure to go ahead and purchase the three cases from Music123. They are very durable and made just for this kit. As far as the kit itself, I have the white pearl and it is absolutely beautiful. The finish is excellent and the silver hoops only add to it. I know the most important thing is the sound. I did replace all the heads. I put EvansG2's on the toms. I put an Evans Genera on the 13" snare and Evans heads on the front and batter side of the kick drum. I trigger my kick with a D5 so the loss in depth didn't bother me that much. Not that the sound is bad but it's obvious your going to lose a little depth when you go to a 7.5" kick drum. The snare has a remarkable crack to it and the toms have wonderful tones. I promise you will be very impressed with the way this kit sounds. You will be even more impressed at how well it travels and sets up. The hardware with the GoKit is tremendous. The kick pedal is very smooth and all the memory locks will just add in cutting your setup time down to a minimum. In closing, if your thinking about it, just do it. I promise once you've fine tuned it to your standards, you won't be disappointed. If you have any other questions, feel free to email me and I'll try to help you any way I can. I hope this has helped and happy drumming.

I was looking for an acoustic kit that was as compact as my electronic kit and I found it I ordered the antique honey it took about 4 weeks. The finish is sweet high gloss lacquer no flaws. I have used single braced hardware for 20 years and the taye stuff is some of the best I have used. First thing I did was change the heads to evens G2 clear batters tuned to 70 on my drum dial. Evens black resonant on bottom tuned to 65. Bass drum I used the evens made with the thick muffle strip no other muffling was used. I never in my wildest dreams thought that these drums would sound better than any acoustic kit I have owned. I played the snare right out of the box and it was great very sensitive but loud. If you are looking for a huge sounding compact kit this is it.
