OVERVIEW

A beautiful instrument with a spruce top, Indian rosewood back and sides, and Taylor Expression System electronics.

For many guitar players, Indian rosewood is what its all about. Taylor offers this classic tonewood in three premium classes, starting with the 700 Series. Elegant rosewood binding, mother-of-pearl dot inlays, abalone rosette, and the Expression System pickup make this Taylor series a timeless statement of tone and taste. The Taylor 714e Rosewood/Spruce Grand Auditiorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar combines the full-bodied sound of Indian rosewood with a spruce top that yields a slightly more aged tone than Sitka. This Grand Auditorium guitar will shine in any venue.

Indian Rosewood
One of the most popular and traditional guitar woods of all time, rosewood takes the basic sonic thumbprint of mahogany (which has a strong midrange) and expands it in both directions. Rosewood sounds deeper in the low end and brighter on the top end (one might describe the treble notes as zesty, sparkly or sizzly, with more articulation). If you look at its frequency range visually, rosewood would appear to be more scooped in the middle, yielding less midrange bloom than mahogany. Like mahogany, rosewoods vintage heritage has helped firmly establish its acoustic legacy. Its a great sound in part because we know that sound. In some music circles in which preserving the traditional sound helps bring a sense of authenticity to the music ” certain strains of Americana, for example ” rosewood has an iconic status. Also like mahogany, rosewood is a versatile tonewood, which has contributed to its popularity. One can fingerpick it, strum it and flatpick it. Its very consistent, so players can usually rely on it to deliver.

Grand Auditorium (GA)
The GA is Taylors most versatile and popular shape, excelling at light-touch fingerstyle to full-blown strumming. Great for micing and recording, the GAs balanced mid-range and bright tone exemplify the Taylor voice.

Expression System
Using proprietary pickup technology developed at Taylor, the Expression System amplifies your guitar with an unrivaled, natural live sound. Onboard tone controls provide added flavor, or set flat for an uncolored, exceptionally-clean amplified sound. Its your tone. Amplified.

Gloss
The finish used to create this guitar's lustrous gloss top, back, and sides was developed at Taylor for maximum durability and resistance to cold-checking. This ultraviolet-cured finish is also more environmentally friendly than traditional lacquer finishes.
