The Doctor's Products Doctor MP Mouthpiece CleanerThe Doctor's Products Doctor MP Mouthpiece Cleaner Have you got ugly, smelly buildup on your mouthpiece? Usually this is of two types - minerals and organic deposits. The Doctor has researched available safe and effective chemicals especially for this task and now offers Doctor MP(TM); the only "all in one treatment" cleaner! This convenient powder is dissolved in plain tap water and a short soak will remove mineral buildups, inorganic vulcanizing residues, organic material, odors, and kill bacteria and mold growing in the damp dark recesses of your mouthpiece. You can see the foaming action removing the particles of organic material and minerals with your very eyes. The organic material remover contains a special, stabilized oxygen bleach and other proprietary chemicals which remove mineral buildups and aid in the sanitizing action. Safe for rubber, plastic, metal and glass mouthpieces. Chlorine bleaches may not be good for rubber mouthpieces after repeated treatment and are much stronger oxidizing agents than the class of oxygen bleach used in Doctor MP(TM). To cut down on your cost you can use a juice glass for the treatment or I can supply a treatment chamber and measuring spoon. Bring your mouthpiece back to maximum performance.

I have recommended this product to many professionals and students. I believe it is is the safest and easiest way to clean a mouthpiece without harming its facing and material. It is important to clean off any calcium so that the reed can respond correctly and consistently. Highly Suggested!
Hey, I have found this Doctor's Products mouthpiece cleaner to be more than adequate at stopping grunge before it acts on the piece, and the player. When I am playing my horn, I don't tend to have an excessive amount of spittle and food transferring onto my mouthpiece, but anyone can have a gross mouthpiece; and now anyone can have a clean mouthpiece! Great product, fast acting, and doesn't smell like what you are removing from the piece. Do yourself a favor.
I would recommend this product to any clarinet player. Any clarinet mouthpiece will get that gross buildup of lip, skin, and spit on it after a while and once the mouthpiece is done soaking in this stuff, it literally rubs right off. I've tried water, soap, isopropyl alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, etc, but nothing compares to this stuff. Also, taking a Q-tip to the chamber will get the gunk off the inside.
I have always had problems with build up of white deposits on the sides of my mouthpiece and even inside the mouthpiece. I tried some of Dr. Henderson's mouthpiece cleaner at a convention where he was offering free mouthpiece cleaning to try out the product. He put a tiny amount into a cup with water and after about 15 minutes all the deposits were gone and the inside completely clean and shiny without using a brush or anything. One of the custom mouthpiece makers at the show was sending all of his customers that wanted on the spot refacing over to have the mouthpieces cleaned before he would touch them. Now I clean my mouthpiece regularily with Doctor MP and have no more problems with build up. I have all my students use Doctor MP too because some of their mouthpieces are really grungy and hurt their playing ability I am sure.
Dr. MP has really helped my MP a lot. I have experienced a good deal of mineral buildup on my MP that was unattractive and that was probably hindering my playing some. So, at the OU Clarinet Symposium, I ran in to Mr. Henderson and I chatted with him about his Dr. MP. He said to soak the MP in 1/4 ts and warm water and then it simply just goes down the drain once it's done. He said that if you have a bad case of mineral buildup (like mine!) to soak the MP in 1 part warm water to 1 part distilled vinegar for 15 minutes and then rinse it off and then you follow it up with Dr. MP. I did that and it cleaned my MP very well. Also, the Dr. MP smells very good-like mint! It's also very entertaining to watch Dr. MP at work when it's cleaning the MP, you can see little bubbles that are taking off the buildup on the MP. Great product from a very knowledgeable and nice person who knows the clarinet.
