Product Overview and Specifications
The Doctor's Products Wood Cleaner(TM)

Exclusive proprietary formulation as used by museums (e.g. The Vatican, British Museum, Louvre) to remove old wax, grime, etc. and unclog wood pores to allow the wood to "breathe" again. Will not dissolve shellac or varnish but will remove organic waxes, and accumulated dirt. Waxes and other organic materials can form acidic residues that break down wood structure over time. This special formulation of cleaners (pH neutral) will not raise the grain or dehydrate the wood, safe for keywork. Excellent preparation step for the application of microcrystalline wax.

I have several older wooden clarinets and a newer R-13 Prestige. I noticed that the finish on the clarinets was dull and the sparkle to the wood was gone. I contacted Dr. Henderson and he suggested cleaning the wood with his wood cleaner and then waxing with his museum quality wood wax. I was amazed at the dirt and grime that came off the clarinets (I tried the inside of the bell first fearing that the cleaner might do something bad to the wood - not so !!). I used an old T-shirt with the cleaner and now it belongs in the rag bag. Living in NY City the air pollution must combine with the oil in the wood and left the finishes dull but I did not realize how much dirt would come off the clarinets with this amazing cleaner. I let the clarinets dry overnight and then waxed them with Doctor's Products woodwind wax. The wax is super because it does not show fingerprints. The clarinets gleam once again and the wood grain in the R-13 is amazing with a deep warm glow. The wood cleaner by itself does not appear to dry out the wood as I had feared and the clarinets looked super even without the wax, but wax made a huge difference to the wood luster. Several of the top pro repair shops here in the City use Doctor's Products exclusively I have since learned.

I have an older clarinet that I take extremely good care of. I decided to try Doctor's Products wood cleaner because the surface of the wood was not as shiny as in the past. I tried a little on a cotton cloth on the bell and was amazed at the dirt that came off. Dr. Henderson says that just atmospheric polution and dust combine with the oil in the wood and form a gunky residue. I can testify that it removed a lot of brown residue from my clarinet. After drying and a little buffing the wood was bright, shiny, and the beautiful wood grain shone out. I used some of Doctor's Products museum wax after cleaning and again was amazed at the depth of the shine and luster on the wood which has lasted now for months with no further effort.
