OVERVIEW

Increased Volume of 15dB!!!

Do you need a powerful sounding clarinet - Marching Band, Jazz, outside gig. The Power Barrel is designed to increase the perceived sound power of your clarinet by 12-15 dB.

The Power Barrel is the result of years of scientific acoustic research and takes advantage of several scientific principals including an inverted cone shaped barrel portion which amplifies and focuses the even harmonic frequencies, and an outer chromed brass sleeve with tuned resonance ports (as used in stereo speaker design) which reinforce the even harmonic frequencies of notes which are more readily recognized by the human ear. The Power Barrel also incorporates an especially designed matched bore taper which makes it extremely free blowing yet controllable and focused. The result - a projecting, bright, and powerful sound.
It is just the answer to raise your clarinet on the marching field to the level of the brass, gives the jazz player a more powerful spectrum of sound to work with, and brings full clear sound to outside playing situations.

Comments about The Doctor's Products Power Barrels:

Used it with the 2008 Yamaha YCL-200AD. The barrel was great in terms of how it looked; very futuristic stealthy after-market look. For the purposes of marching band, I would not recommend it especially when the weather gets cold and wet because putting it on with the rest of the instrument required some decent, more than necessary force. I had this experience one time and it broke the metal jacket off. Looking at how it was assembled, it seems like it was adhered with some kind of cheap glue. Other then it's construction quality, it does produce sound that is a little bit louder. Just know that an additional 10-15 dB gain will not much more louder than it seems (especially when the clarinet is already peaking ~95 or so dB on stock barrel). Would recommend for indoor pep band or jazz performances though. As for marching band, I recommend the black version for uniformity looks with other people as well as some super glue, if not epoxy on hand should you need it.

Not What I Thought It Would Be

Comments about The Doctor's Products Power Barrels:

I've played clarinet now for 51 years. Love to try and play like Pete Fountain, but there's only one of him...lol....Was really looking forward to trying this barrel. I know of all the positive reviews on here and that was the reason I bought one....but....very disappointed in this product. It was very hard to but on my clarinet with cork grease and even harder to get it off. When I did get it off it came apart. Plus it won't let you play above high C. You can blow but nothing comes out. Therefore I was disappointed and will return item. It's probably good for beginners and high school. A very good mouthpiece will out produce this product.

Comments about The Doctor's Products Power Barrels:

As my first purchase from this site, i must say it was definitely money well spent. It paid for itself in awesomeness the day i got it. Everyone now knows when the clarinets are playing on the field and I think I've persuaded the others in my section to make this investment as well. I also found it much easier to play on than the barrel that came with my Selmer 1400. It made the feeling of resistance through the horn practically disappear. Very worth it.

    Better than expected

This is an excellent product. It does what it's supposed to do : deliver volume. There is no loss of tonal focus and intonation. The tone is tight and beautiful. This barrel will help in those situations where the clarinet is over whelmed by loud horns and the player has to strain, ruining his own sound, just to hear himself play in the group.

Wow - this is a monster barrel !!!

Comments about The Doctor's Products Power Barrels:

As a pro player I double on clarinet and sax and often have to cut through the brass with the clarinet. The Power Barrel adds the loudness and projection needed. For my playing style the Power Barrel adds a new dimension to the sound that I can work with and a whole new pallet for my art. The Power Barrel is perfectly controllable and can be played softly as well as super loud with good intonation. When I first used it the brass just had to look around at the new competitor and nodded with approval. The Power Barrel adds some monster sound to the clarinet. I am recommending it to schools for marching band use too. It looks really funky in chrome - more subdued in black.

Not only is the tone compatible with the classical idiom, it

Comments about The Doctor's Products Power Barrels:

How could I resist the idea of anything that claims to make you louder? The great surprise for me was twofold. The tone is wonderful for classical music. I find it only slightly less "covered" in sound to the standard R-13 barrel or the Moenig. The best result of all was the fact that it evened out the scale on my new R-13, raising the pitch of the chalameau E and F while lowering the usually always sharp B below the staff (how does it do that?!!?) and raising the altissimo F# and G (the side key ones typically used in fast passages). A great product for classical music !!!

    Fantastic product

Comments about The Doctor's Products Power Barrels:

I play sax and clarinet in a large church group and always had problems hearing myself on clarinet, especially notes below the break. Not any more - the Power Barrel has given me amazing volume and projection so I can easily compete with the brass section, guitars etc. The beauty of it is that there is no big blowing effort or loss of intonation in getting the volume, and for quiet passages the clarinet can still be played softly. I bought the black powder finish and no-one knows it's there...until you start playing that is! A superb product...
