UMI Christian Lindberg Series Trombone MouthpieceCHRISTIAN LINDBERG TROMBONE MOUTHPIECE Mouthpiece rims are sized in close relation to each other, so that changing from one to another is extremely comfortable. For example, the 13CL alto mouthpiece is specifically designed to ease the transition to and from the 2CL or 4CL large bore tenor mouthpiece. Similarly, the 15CL alto mouthpiece makes it easy to switch back and forth from the 5CL large bore tenor mouthpiece. The Lindberg cup rim is slightly thinner than on other brands, which makes flexibility and movement from top to bottom register easier. Also, the inside of the rim is slightly sharper, which facilitates articulation. Expand your musical horizons with the new Christian Lindberg trombone mouthpiece from UMI.

I own a 2CL Gold and 10CL silver of these mouthpieces. I really enjoy playing on both of them. I needed a new mouthpiece for jazz this year and was looking for something a little shallower and with a thinner rim. I had been playing jazz on a Yamaha 48 which came with my starter horn. After doing a little searching I settled on this and absolutely love it. It has a nice sound in all registers and makes for a great lead mouthpiece. A little later in the year I decided I wanted a mouthpiece for solo work and for playing the 2nd trombone part in band. I knew I wanted something to give me a dark open sound. I also wanted it to be open and have a thinner rim. After playing the 10CL in jazz and enjoying it so much I thought I would try out the 2CL Gold. I had previously played on the Denis Wick 9BL, Denis Wick Heritage 9BL, Back 5G, 6&1/2M and a 6&1/2AL. For what I was looking for the 2CL was the best fit. It has a very open back bore and has a dark, rich tone that I have loved when working on my solo pieces. It also blends very nicely when playing in my section. The thinner rim also allows for increased flexibility which can really help out for any kind of playing. If you are looking at playing 1st trombone parts I might recommend getting the 4CL since it is a little smaller, but I would definitely recommend at least giving this series a try for any style of playing!
I couldn't be more pleased with this mouthpiece. This mouthpiece feels and plays like it's somewhere between my 5g and a 6.5al, allowing for easy pedal tones and highs, and I've personally found that my endurance has improved greatly simply by switching from my 5g. Flexibilities are easier, sound is nice and focused, attacks and accuracy are spot on...and it looks nice too.
This mouthpiece has provided a real breakthrough for me. For years, I've played primarily a Schulke 51B. But, over the past year, I began to experience difficulties. I have about 10 mouthpieces, and tried all of them. As an experiment, I ordered this Lindberg model and have been amazed by the results. It has been comfortable and enables me to play a full range from high to low. This has been the best investment I've made since buying by Yamaha Zeno about 6 years ago. Highly recommended.
I only have one issue with this mouthpiece, it doesn't give the warm sound you would normally want due to the fact its such a shallow cup, it gives a great high range.
I use the 2CL in conjunction with a Yamaha 613G bass trombone and the combination is superb. This mouthpiece gets a very full, rich tone, but also enables an expanded upper register - I can play lead lines above the staff that previously would have required a tenor horn. Since I bought the 2CL, I've been using the bass bone as my main horn in small groups and even trad. One caveat - work on stamina before taking this mouthpiece to a long (3 hours-plus) job. The comparatively narrow rim can wear out an embouchure if you're not ready for it. But overall, this is a fantastic mouthpiece and I highly recommend it.
