I was given a bottle of Ultra Pure 5 years ago at Dave Monette's shop. It sat in my drawer for about 6 months; I did not want to wash all of my horns to try out a new oil when I had no problem with the Al Cass oil I was using. Then my son started having problems with his B&S Challenger. The valves would stick occasionally (once a week) requiring a complete cleaning of the horn and re-oiling. I decided to give Ultra Pure a try. I could not believe the difference. The B&S valves were better than my Bach 37 and my Yamaha Flugelhorn (Nickel Plated Valves). I changed all of my horns over to Ultra Pure and I am amazed at how well all of my valves work and how little oil I use. I can get away with oiling 1 to 2 times per week. The way I tell when I need to oil is when the valves feel like they have been oiled with standard oil. I don't want to ping on Al Cass because their product is very highly recommended and I had used it for years. To summarize; you will have to completely clean your valves to try this oil, but once you do, I bet that you will never turn back.
I wanted to try to find the best valve oil for my new horn, and was using Al Cass and blue juice before. I found that on my old horn, blue juice didn't leave residues, but on this new one, it did. I had to switch to the Yamaha synthetic that came with the horn. When Ultra Pure arrived, I cleaned the casing right away and put this stuff in. After a week, there still isn't any residue, and the speed of the valves matches blue juice quickness. This valve oil is worth the money!!!
I've been using Ultra Pure valve oil for approximately one year. It's by far the best valve lubricant I've encountered. It lasts weeks (even when playing every day) and results in super quick valves. I've used them on new Yamaha instruments and vintage trumpets from the 1940s and the results have been fantastic. There's no odor that's really noticeable and a few drops do the trick. Highly recommended!!
I bought Ken's Ultra-Pure valve oil because I had a valve on my 76 Bach that didn't respond to ANY other oil - regardless of what I tried, it was slow and sticky. Along came Ken's Ultra-Pure Valve Oil and VOILA! No more sticking! Not only are my valves perfect, they are faster than ever! I use Ultra-Pure valve oil on all my trumpets, including my 1929 Conn Vocabell, with Chrysteel valves, you know, the valves that are supposed to only need water! I've also turned 10 or more brass playing friends into Ultra-Pure lovers! There is NONE BETTER THAN ULTRA PURE!
after washing out my horns I applied the oil and it works like a charm. The oil is the real deal nothing else to say.
