I have tried most valve oils on my trumpets/cornets. I've been using Ultra-Pure for 3 years. I apply oil once a week, not because valves are sticky, but just because I think I should out of guilt. Valves NEVER stick anymore!
after washing out my horns I applied the oil and it works like a charm. The oil is the real deal nothing else to say.
I bought Ken's Ultra-Pure valve oil because I had a valve on my 76 Bach that didn't respond to ANY other oil - regardless of what I tried, it was slow and sticky.
Along came Ken's Ultra-Pure Valve Oil and VOILA! No more sticking! Not only are my valves perfect, they are faster than ever! I use Ultra-Pure valve oil on all my trumpets, including my 1929 Conn Vocabell, with Chrysteel valves, you know, the valves that are supposed to only need water!
I've also turned 10 or more brass playing friends into Ultra-Pure lovers!
There is NONE BETTER THAN ULTRA PURE!
I wanted to try to find the best valve oil for my new horn, and was using Al Cass and blue juice before. I found that on my old horn, blue juice didn't leave residues, but on this new one, it did. I had to switch to the Yamaha synthetic that came with the horn. When Ultra Pure arrived, I cleaned the casing right away and put this stuff in. After a week, there still isn't any residue, and the speed of the valves matches blue juice quickness. This valve oil is worth the money!!!
This is truly the best Valve oil I've ever used. It works great for High-end horns with really tight valves (I use it on my Monette Prana Cornet). You can't "over oil" the vales with it, it never gets that gummy feeling.
At first when my band director recommended this oil to use on my new pro model trumpet, I was hesitant to switch. After I used it though I was amazed! The oil didn't leave any of the gunky stuff the other oils had left behind and it worked amazingly well! I also didn't have to use as much when I oiled! I am in love with the entire pure-oils collection and will keep using it!
I've been using Ultra Pure valve oil for approximately one year. It's by far the best valve lubricant I've encountered. It lasts weeks (even when playing every day) and results in super quick valves. I've used them on new Yamaha instruments and vintage trumpets from the 1940s and the results have been fantastic. There's no odor that's really noticeable and a few drops do the trick. Highly recommended!!
I have been using Ultra Pure on my trumpet and flugelhorn for over 1 year now. Previously, I used Hetman. Both are equally outstanding. The only difference is that Hetman becomes discolored over time, turning from clear into a yellow color. I'm not sure if that really matters, but Ultra Pure does not discolor over time.
Ultra Pure lasts for a long time on the valves, provides smooth action, and does not leave nasty residue like petroleum-based oils do. Also, if my valves start having issues in the middle of a session, I just add a few drops of UP and everything is fine for the rest of the day. This "just add more oil for a quick fix" thing doesn't work with petroleum-based oils usually, it just adds more mess to the valves.
UP is an oil I can depend on. I don't worry about my valves anymore. Try it. If you want to get picky, try Hetman too. You won't be disappointed with either one.
I always used blue juice but it wasn't juuuust right; Ultra Pure slide grease worked, so I tried the valve oil. Pretty soon gunk was building up on the valves, slowing them down a lot, and the third valve was hardly usable at all; so I'm back on blue juice.
I play one of those Bach New York #7 Strads that they made for a little while, so I wouldn't suggest this oil for those horns.
I've been a faithful Ultrapure user for the past few years. It lasts longer than any other oil, has no odor, and doesn't stain clothing! No other oil has ever come close to Ultrapure - I use it on my trumpets, cornet, flugel and valve bone. You won't regret buying it!
