I have been using Ultra Pure on my trumpet and flugelhorn for over 1 year now. Previously, I used Hetman. Both are equally outstanding. The only difference is that Hetman becomes discolored over time, turning from clear into a yellow color. I'm not sure if that really matters, but Ultra Pure does not discolor over time. Ultra Pure lasts for a long time on the valves, provides smooth action, and does not leave nasty residue like petroleum-based oils do. Also, if my valves start having issues in the middle of a session, I just add a few drops of UP and everything is fine for the rest of the day. This "just add more oil for a quick fix" thing doesn't work with petroleum-based oils usually, it just adds more mess to the valves. UP is an oil I can depend on. I don't worry about my valves anymore. Try it. If you want to get picky, try Hetman too. You won't be disappointed with either one.
I have been using this oil for 2 years now, sticky valves are a thing of the past, I can rely on this oil with no questions when its "go" time,I never thought I would say this but my valve action actually feels faster with this oil. having small children it is an added bonus to know it is non toxic.
I was given a bottle of Ultra Pure 5 years ago at Dave Monette's shop. It sat in my drawer for about 6 months; I did not want to wash all of my horns to try out a new oil when I had no problem with the Al Cass oil I was using. Then my son started having problems with his B&S Challenger. The valves would stick occasionally (once a week) requiring a complete cleaning of the horn and re-oiling. I decided to give Ultra Pure a try. I could not believe the difference. The B&S valves were better than my Bach 37 and my Yamaha Flugelhorn (Nickel Plated Valves). I changed all of my horns over to Ultra Pure and I am amazed at how well all of my valves work and how little oil I use. I can get away with oiling 1 to 2 times per week. The way I tell when I need to oil is when the valves feel like they have been oiled with standard oil. I don't want to ping on Al Cass because their product is very highly recommended and I had used it for years. To summarize; you will have to completely clean your valves to try this oil, but once you do, I bet that you will never turn back.
This valve oil is amazing. It works consistently and has never failed. It leaves zero residue. I use it for my trumpet and a school euphonium; it has worked wonders.
I've been a faithful Ultrapure user for the past few years. It lasts longer than any other oil, has no odor, and doesn't stain clothing! No other oil has ever come close to Ultrapure - I use it on my trumpets, cornet, flugel and valve bone. You won't regret buying it!
I have use a lot of oils (including Al Cass and Bluejuice) but this is much better I picked this at a local music store as my bottle of Al Cass was running out. Al cass, though good, had problems, including drying up rapidly leaving a gummy residue This oil works perfectly on my instruments (a Jupiter sousaphone and a King concert tube) The oil lasts about 2 weeks before drying up (and drys clean, leaving just a little water), but I oil more frequently than i have to. Can't say how long one bottle lasts (I spilt half of mine after 5 months of having it.)
This is truly the best Valve oil I've ever used. It works great for High-end horns with really tight valves (I use it on my Monette Prana Cornet). You can't "over oil" the vales with it, it never gets that gummy feeling.
At first when my band director recommended this oil to use on my new pro model trumpet, I was hesitant to switch. After I used it though I was amazed! The oil didn't leave any of the gunky stuff the other oils had left behind and it worked amazingly well! I also didn't have to use as much when I oiled! I am in love with the entire pure-oils collection and will keep using it!
I wanted to try to find the best valve oil for my new horn, and was using Al Cass and blue juice before. I found that on my old horn, blue juice didn't leave residues, but on this new one, it did. I had to switch to the Yamaha synthetic that came with the horn. When Ultra Pure arrived, I cleaned the casing right away and put this stuff in. After a week, there still isn't any residue, and the speed of the valves matches blue juice quickness. This valve oil is worth the money!!!
after washing out my horns I applied the oil and it works like a charm. The oil is the real deal nothing else to say.
