Vandoren Java Tenor Saxophone ReedsVandoren Java Red tenor sax reeds have more flexibility and tonal body and produces a full, rich, centered sound with phenomenal projection and extremely precise attacks. The Java Red will take your sound to a whole new level. The Vandoren Java Red have a thicker extremity than traditional reeds. In addition, the pallet, or the area where the waves are propagated with the greatest range are more flexible than traditional reeds. The name of these reeds was derived through the conflation of the word "jazz" and the word "variety." It is made with the working musician in mind, and for the jazz musician as well. The perfect customer for this reed then would be the working jazz musician! And thanks to those fans who still pay cover charges at jazz joints and buy jazz CDs, that sometimes neglected demographic manages to hang on still.

Vandoren JAVA reeds are great for concert or jazz band. The reed provides a clean accurate projection of sound and tonality. Has quick response with a centered sound. And the quality is consistent excellent.
These reeds are great for jazz. on tenor
And if you double on bass clarinet there a great way to boost your tone
I've been playin? Javas since I was in high school, about 12 years now. I refuse to play on anything else!! The only exception is the rare occasion I step into a classical gig, where I have to dust off my C star and find my blue box Van's. I can make a reed last at least 3 weeks, playing at least 2 hours a day in practice, and at least 3 gigs a week. THESE ARE EXTREMELY FLEXIBLE REEDS PEOPLE!! Warping is no where near as dramatic as the blue box Vans. If you would use the Java with a type of mouthpiece it was designed for, you will see a change. HINT: if you're using a C-star with a Java, you need to fire your lessons coach and pick up a job application! The only exception is if you've had your C-star drilled out. A C-STAR IS A CLASSICAL MOUTHPIECE!! Javas were not made to play classical music!
I love Vandoren Java?s; I play on a 3 strength reed with a Selmer S80 mouthpiece. The sound is richer, and these reeds make it easy to play for longer periods of time with high tone quality. WWBW has them so much cheaper than my local store, so it's a great buy.
Even on a Selmer C* (the only mouth piece I have right now, because I just bought a YTS-62 Tenor and now I?m broke) I can get the most tasty sound for jazz. I?m looking at a Vandoren V16 mouth piece for jazz; the reviews are great for it, as always though the equipment for jazz is a little bit tougher to play on than regular classic equipment. I didn?t have a problem switching from the regular blue box Vandoren reeds to these between jazz band and concert band though. A couple of pals of mine do. Rico reeds have never given me the same kind of freedom. A little tip too, get cardboard when you buy new reeds like these and rub that cardboard on the back of each reed as if you were sanding it down, which technically you are, just don?t use sand paper or you will murder your reeds. But if you use cardboard on them, the back of those reeds will come off feeling like glass and they'll even play better! Can you imagine better?
