Description
Great sax reed for jazz musicians and gigging players.

Vandoren Java Tenor Saxophone Reeds
Vandoren Java Red tenor sax reeds have more flexibility and tonal body and produces a full, rich, centered sound with phenomenal projection and extremely precise attacks. The Java Red will take your sound to a whole new level.

The Vandoren Java Red have a thicker extremity than traditional reeds. In addition, the pallet, or the area where the waves are propagated with the greatest range are more flexible than traditional reeds. The name of these reeds was derived through the conflation of the word "jazz" and the word "variety." It is made with the working musician in mind, and for the jazz musician as well. The perfect customer for this reed then would be the working jazz musician! And thanks to those fans who still pay cover charges at jazz joints and buy jazz CDs, that sometimes neglected demographic manages to hang on still.

"great reeds, worth the money"

These reeds are definitely worth the money. Great tonal quality. The downside is that they are not consistent. If you too find they aren't being consistent, get one of those vandoren reed cases ( the one that holds 4) they have a dehumidifier thing in them. Just let your sit for a while and they should be less ripe and play better

"Good reed with lots of projection"

These reeds allow me to keep up with the trumpets and bones in a typical brass-rock ensemble. There is consistent bright sound and projection using a 6* Florida Otto Link compared to some other reeds. My 60s Signet tenor has the right amount of edge and clarity for a brass-rock ensemble. Even though these reeds let you belt out your sound, I have not had any difficulty in dropping down on a decrescendo to back up a vocalist.

"Java, The one and only reed! UNREAL!!"

Java's are the most used pro reeds in the world. They last a long time, are consistant, box to box and fully responsive. I get five for five out of every box. Lots of players love 3?s. I use 3 1/2?s on my Morgan 9M with a .110 & quot; tip opening. Unreal!! A reed has to be perfectly flat to perform at it's best,so I scrape the flat side with reed knife to even out any irregularities. Javas distort the least of any brand! The cane is so very stable and not green or prematurely harvested like other brands. The best CANE makes the best reeds! The Java American cut is the sound of Jazz. These reeds make the Tenor saxophone really come alive in your hands!!

"Not for Classical"

I've been playin? Javas since I was in high school, about 12 years now. I refuse to play on anything else!! The only exception is the rare occasion I step into a classical gig, where I have to dust off my C star and find my blue box Van's. I can make a reed last at least 3 weeks, playing at least 2 hours a day in practice, and at least 3 gigs a week. THESE ARE EXTREMELY FLEXIBLE REEDS PEOPLE!! Warping is no where near as dramatic as the blue box Vans. If you would use the Java with a type of mouthpiece it was designed for, you will see a change. HINT: if you're using a C-star with a Java, you need to fire your lessons coach and pick up a job application! The only exception is if you've had your C-star drilled out. A C-STAR IS A CLASSICAL MOUTHPIECE!! Javas were not made to play classical music!
