I start(ed) use(ing) Vandoren mouthpieces in High School. I like playing on Metal Mouthpieces to hard rubber and to Vandoren Jumbo Java's. I'm now a Sr. Student Graphic Artist/Sr.Student Printist. To all u guys and girls playing sax, keep practicing. And make most of it. Where u play Alto or Tenor Sax. Still do it as a hobby. Still play?never stop learn(ing). This is a very cool good starter mouthpiece. It's also a keeper. When u don't want to play metal mouthpice. You might have to warm up on hard rubber again. But get your lip muscles strong again.
I bought this just to test it. I had read about a few reviews where people enjoyed playing on it. Boy did this mouthpiece surprise me. I used it on my mark VI and Yamaha Custom ZII and this mouthpiece does it all. It can play in the altissimo register in tune and with a large dynamic range across every register. I found that the sound of this mouthpiece can be changed to suit different needs. I bought the T75 and it seems to be very free blowing and definitely produces a good sound. I used the Vandoren M/O ligature (I think that is the name) and mostly JAVA reeds. I would recommend this to everyone. DEFINITELY worth the money, especially compared to many other MPC's.
I thought a mouthpiece had to be made of metal to have a tone like the Vandoren Jumbo Java-I use an A45 on alto and a T95 on tenor and I LOVE the tone-powerful and bright, but not too much so. I used to be a die hard "metal-mouth"-used a Dukoff D9* tenor and a Runyon Smooth Bore #9 on bari. What changed that was the limited availability of those brands when it came time to search for metal mouthpieces for my recently acquired soprano and alto saxophones, so I gave Vandoren a try. I am SOLD on this brand and I now use their mouthpieces exclusively (Soprano-V16, alto and tenor-Jumbo Java, and baritone-V5 Jazz) They are easily available, highly consistent from mouthpiece to mouthpiece, and truly of 5 star quality!!
I have had a Vandoren Jumbo Java T55 for over a year and in that time, have been increasingly impressed with the sound quality and response! Whether in a rock band, jam- band, or r&b setting, this mouthpiece is always right at home! Its tone is bright, with just enough edge ,and the feel of the mouthpiece is comfortable. I highly reccomend this to players of all styles!
i was thinking about buying this mouthpiece for more than six months because bad experiences, but his is more than inexpect by far... very crispy sound, easy blowing and very very loud... exellent for open places...i'm very happy and you are not going to be daisapointed.
