Good classical ligature but lacks projection

Comments about Vandoren Leather German Clarinet Ligatures and Caps:

First I play on Grabner SW1-Personal mouthpiece(short lay and 0.98 mm opening) and Vandoren V-12 #3.5+ reeds. Specially with the thick leather plate it gives me good resistance specially to get secure in the high register. But now I'm playing two rock, funk, jazz style pieces and both are fairly much around the throat tones and lower register(I think the other one does not even go higher than C above the staff two times or so) and over a big brass section. This ligature really hits it's limits and I really have to use my diaphram and push real hard to get any projection at all but then I sacrifice good control. So I would recommend if you need projection but still want a fairly dark sound(it may sound bright but not in the back of a hall) to try the BG standard or Rovner Eddie Daniels(Now Verso) ligatures

Awesome response and tone!

Comments about Vandoren Leather German Clarinet Ligatures and Caps:

While I haven't had this ligature long I can tell it is great. I switched from an all metal ligature to this ligature, and what a difference it has made! Paired with the 56 Lepic or v12s it gives me a tone most musicians of my level would die for. I use it with an m13 lyre mouthpiece (kind of a median between free blowing and a little restricted). I haven't had much time to try the leather pressure plates, so I prefer the metal plate.

Great ligature

Comments about Vandoren Leather German Clarinet Ligatures and Caps:

This ligature is great because it has 3 different pressure plates and that's really essential because mouthpieces varies. For example I find the soft leather great with Vandoren V-12 reeds on mouthpiece brand A but with brand B mouthpiece the metal is best and the soft leather is really bad. My teacher had a mouthpiece which included ligature with it and that ligature was the best ligature he ever had tried but on another mouthpieces brand it wasn't that great. So to summarize this review I say get the ligature that suites your mouthpiece and reed setup.

Great Lig!!!

Comments about Vandoren Leather German Clarinet Ligatures and Caps:

I really enjoyed playing on this mouthpiece. I recommend it with a free blowing mouthpiece, and size four in V12. I personally like the metal plate, but that just my personal preference.

Awesome, just awesome...

Comments about Vandoren Leather German Clarinet Ligatures and Caps:

This ligature has got to be one of the greatest innovations by Vandoren since the optimum. With this, they totally blow away lots of the competition. When I was in high school I played on an Eddie Daniels II, and I loved the rich, dark, focused sound it produced. Then once I started attending the University of Hawaii I switched to using the Vandoren Optimum. One because I liked the clarity that it gave my tone, and the fact that it was a whole lot easier to tongue. During one of my lessons, my professor Mr. Henry Miyamura, a graduate of Eastman (he's classmates with Larry Combs and Charles Bay, just to name a few) showed me this "New amazing ligature" he tired out. It is the perfect blend of the Eddie Daniels and the Optimum. It combines the richness and focus of the EDII and the clarity and the precision of the Optimum and takes them to a whole new level. (However I haven't found a liking to the inserts other than the metal one...that one is probably the best out of the three.)I recommend this to all who look for that bridge between metal and fabric, truly Vandoren has outdone themselves once again.

Depends

Comments about Vandoren Leather German Clarinet Ligatures and Caps:

Five stars and you say "Depends?" Well, see I tried this ligature on my R13 and on my teacher's vintage which I borrowed, both in Bb. I have to say, every time, the Vandoren was great on theR13 and blew on the vintage, like my delicious pun? Anyway, it all depends on your setup. Works great for a free-blowing R13 and with V12 reeds.

Good Ligature!

Comments about Vandoren Leather German Clarinet Ligatures and Caps:

I purchased this ligature trying to replace the Rovner that I got stolen and one thing I like is the dark sound it produces. The 3 different plates (2 leather , 1 metal) give me options when I'm trying different mouthpieces; I prefer the leather one myself. What I don't like it's that they attach with velcro which I believe makes it unstable. After 2 months of using it, it streched that in order for me to keep the reed in place I have to place it too low. I still like the sound it produces but for the price (now more expensive than when I bough it) I would probably go with a BG Revelation or a Rovner Eddie Daniels which is what I had stolen.

Great!!!!

Comments about Vandoren Leather German Clarinet Ligatures and Caps:

This ligature is great. I have tried many and I would put this at the top of my list. It has the best of both worlds. The Dark warm "soloist" sound of a fabric ligature but also the response and power of a metal lig. The thick leather really makes a difference. Congrats to Vandoren because they blew away BG. The interchangeable plates help you select how you want your instrument to play at the time. If you don't want to have that big of a selection, I would say this is not for you. Great for anyone. I would also look into the Oleg ligature. Also a Great ligature.
