I use Vandoren mouthpieces, V16 or Java reeds and M/O ligatures on all 4 saxes-the consistency and quality can't be beat. The ONLY problem I've had is with the baritone version of the M/O ligature(on a V16 mouthpiece)-to use Vandoren reeds, which have a thicker stock or "butt"-you have to trim that part of the reed with a razor blade or preferably, a reed knife. The ligature is supposed to conform to the stock of the reed where it makes contact with that area- now, oddly enough, if you use, say, Rico reeds, you won't have that problem. I might have a bad ligature, though, who knows?
This is the best ligature I've ever played on Soprano Sax. Articulation is a breeze, sound is gorgeous, and just playing on it feels great. I've also played on the Francois Louis and I believe this ligature surpasses that, which is a huge statement for any ligature. Vandoren has outdone themselves yet again. I'm getting one for my Eb Clarinet, but I'm sticking to my Vandoren Optimums on my Bb Clarinet and Alto Sax.
This is the best ligature I've ever had. Articulation is a breeze as well as very crisp and clear. I recommend this to anyone looking for a new ligature setup. I'm going to get one for my alto as well.
Playing feels great. The response is lighting quick and reed vibration is organic. I was looking to upgrade my ligature and I took a lesson with Dr. Nabb at SFA University in Texas and he had one so I gave it a try and I can honestly say I'm sticking with this. Also play this with my jazz (rubber) setup and it feels awesome there too! Just the response and resonance I need!
This ligature really performs on my RPC .115 Tip Baritone Mouthpiece, which many of you know is a bit difficult to fit. I noticed an immediate increase in overall volume, and the intonation from top to bottom was excellent. No shifting of reeds and even the wide with syntetics fit in the bottom "channel" perfectly. Be sure to experiment with the tension screw, as it makes a noticeable difference. A great ligature for your bari that is well built, and a great value.
