I've had one of these for about 2 years now. It does not encourage any abnormal warping, it keeps the reeds well ventilated and seems to deter rather well against mold build-up. Easy to clean. Having each holder labeled was a nice touch and proves to be useful when you need to keep track of which reed is which. I've had no mechanical problems- the case opens up easily and shuts securely as well as the day I got it. I've dropped it on occasion and it has survived quite well and protected the reeds.
I like how strong this case looks/feels, and the little tab to switch to the other side works pretty well. But there are two problems I had. The retention system uses plastic bridges that don't always make contact with the tallest part of the reed before the tip of the reed hits the back of the channel. Mostly I see this with synthetic reeds, such as Fibracell. With those reeds, they slide back and forth hitting the tip of the reed regularly. This is bad. Even my Legere reeds hit the tip if seated properly. The cane reeds I own do not have this problem. It's unfortunate that a perfect universal reed case is so hard to find.
I just bought this reed case, but I really don't want to put any reeds in it. They slide around, not secured at all, with great risk of damaging the reeds. I wish I had not purchased this--it's worse than nothing.
iI bought this reed case about two weeks ago and ive been pretty happy with it. The only prolem is that it doesnt hold some of the reeds in firmly, they would slip out and get chipped in the case. But it gets the job done.
This is a very good reed case. I?ve used it for a bit over 4 months, and I am still using the reeds that I put in them 4 months ago. On top of that, the reeds sound just fine. I have had to clean my reeds once because of molds in 4 months; they have not warped very much. It is a good buy for anyone who wishes to have a small sturdy and practical reed case.
