the reed case is amazing it's like a reed paridise makes my reeds play like a boss
Humidity control is integral to the preservation and stability of cane reeds, particularly the prevention of warpage; ideally, a humidity level between 55% and 65% should be constantly maintained. After experimenting with the Rico Reed Vitalizer Case that requires frequent replacement of the Vitalizer packs and results in reeds that are ultimately dry (even using the Vitalizer Pack claiming a resultant 84% humidity), I discovered the Vandoren Hygrocase. This case solves both of the aforementioned problems: the case displays the humidity the reeds are subjected to inside the case, thus allowing one to add more water if the conditions are not ideal, and one need not frequently purchase Vitalizer packs that become obsolete after a maximum of merely a few months. The well-regulated conditions inside the case result in reeds that are completely stable; transitively, one finds a greater percentage of reeds that function suitably without adjustment. Alas, we can finally stop worrying about temperamental reeds and focus on our true goal as musicians?expressing ourselves through our instruments. On a practical note, the case easily fits 20 Bb clarinet Vandoren reeds if kept in the plastic Vandoren sleeves (although I believe one can fit more if necessary in addition to being able to store non-Bb clarinet reeds just as easily). One could also use multiple inexpensive reed guards if one has an aversion to the plastic sleeves or if one plays Rico reeds for instance, whose sleeves are not well-suited for this case. Another beneficial aspect regarding this case pertains to a reed-related occurrence with which I am entirely unfamiliar. If reeds become moldy due to constant exposure to moisture (which apparently occurs unbeknownst to me), simply create a saline solution by adding salt to the water you inject into the case rather than water alone. Regardless, this case is highly recommended. The seemingly steep price for a reed case is abated by the time and money one saves in avoiding fussing with uncontrollable reeds. As players of reed instruments, so much valuable time is wasted on materialistic matters?matters that are ultimately of little relevance to our ultimate goal of music making. Based on my experience with this product, it serves to revert one?s focus to making music rather than trifling over petty reeds.
This reed case was very helpful (I play clarinet and bari sax) and I found that when you fill up the whole thing it works better.
