"Great Reeds for Concert Band"

These reeds are great for playing in concert band for classical music. I use this reed in combination with a Yamaha YTS-62 and a Selmer S90 mouthpiece. I have a wide range of dynamics, reasonable pitch bend for vibrato and intonation, and a beautiful, non-kazoo-like sound. I can do this all effortlessly. The reeds last very long. For jazz, I recommend the ZZ reeds in combination with an Otto Link metal mouthpiece.

I have been playing Tenor Saxophone for a long time. I have played on multiple reeds including Rico's and the wide variety of reeds in Vandoren. Don't get me wrong, these are GREAT reeds, but I find these more for beginners and for players who have been playing for a few years and are becoming really good at it. For really good players and professional's I recommend Vandoren Java, ZZ, or my favorite, the V-16 Advanced Saxophone Reed. Except these higher reeds are for expert players. Otherwise, these reed's are great.

I've been playing professionally all over the world for over 40 years and I've always come back to these standard Vandoren #4's. As all reed players, my complaints differ from venue to venue depending on the humidity etc. But, these reeds deliver and are dependable. I recently noticed I only had 1 reed left and I'd been playing it for several months. I ordered another box of the several types Vandoren has out there. After going through the whole box - I trashed them and went back to my funky old one and ordered new basic Vandoren's. North - South - East Coast - West Coast - Vegas desert etc. They can be counted on.

These reeds are amazing! I have used them for about 2 years now and they give a great, full sound which is very important. They may be a little pricey for just average musicians, but they are definitely worth the price. I use these reeds, my teacher uses them, and I know many other very good musicians that would use nothing but Vandoren reeds. If you want quality reeds, go for these!!

These reeds are way better than the other Vandoren reeds. I use them with a Selmer Soloist C** mouthpiece.

"Great Reed"

I found out that this is a great reed On an every day gig they last longer than the other cuts because they have a thicker heart. The thinner tip help easing the articulations. The sound is beautifull and centered I use them for popular music with excelent results (with a Ponzol M2 Stainless Steel 110 mouthpiece), althought I know they where designed for Classical

Once upon a time I went through a phase of my playing when I wanted to find the best reed I could to suit my playing style, I was using vandoren reeds to start with, i probable tried close to 15 different types of reed in various styles of playing. From Marching, to Jazz, to Classical playing, these reed gave the best sound and feel. Even though they cost a little more than some, they are worth the money. I wont play anything other than a vandoren reed

These reeds are so good I?ve started taking them for granted. I just saw the review and realized how great these reeds are. The musicality I am able to get on these is just amazing. Of course they go great with the Selmer C* mouth piece. I use a YTS-62 Tenor saxophone, and the combination just really is amazing. If you play in a concert band or perform classical music these are definitely the reeds for you! They are obviously not great for jazz, especially with a C*. I use the Java reeds for jazz and they are great too.
