I have been using these reeds for 3 years and just recently switched to Vandoren V12's. These are still great reeds and can produce a very nice sound but I have found them to be inconsistent. There are usually only a few reeds in each box that really plays nicely. Still a great reed for the money though!

I had been playing my clarinet with Rico Royal reeds for about 5 years when my clarinet teacher suggested I buy some Vandoren reeds. It was well worth the investment. While not all of the reeds that come in the box are good, most of them are not only usable but have a great tone and amazing durability. I am not an expert on clarinet reeds, but they are the best I have used in my experience so far.

There are no other affordable reeds on a student budget that compare to the quality that Vandoren reeds give me. They're very durable and I can play a wide arrange of music, from jazz to concert music, form inside the classroom playing a wilting melody to belting out on the field for marching band, I trust these reeds and no other. And eventually when I get a professional clarinet, I will continue to stay with Vandoren reeds and products.

Vandoren makes a great reed. The classic cut produces a vibrant lively sound. They are a nice dense cane, better than some of the porous varieties other brands are selling. It gives a richer, more resonant tone and a reed that lasts.

"Why go back to the other reeds?"

When I was in 7th grade, I decided to join band and the first kind of reeds I used with my Bb Clarinet was Rico's reed that were a 3. I hated the sound of the Rico reeds and it just didn't suit me very well. Vandoren reeds are really good reeds and I will never go back to any others. I am a freshmen in highschool. I am currently in Symphonic Winds, Wind Choir, and Marching Band. So as you can see, I need a dependable reed for every day of the week and also the weekends. These reeds are very good even though there are some bad reeds in each box, the good reeds are better than the other reeds you would get in a Rico box.
