Featuring a round chamber and no baffle, the Vandoren V16 Rubber Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece is sure to be a hit with fans of the vintage rubber tenor pieces. The sound of the Vandoren V16 is rich and full but packs a surpising punch for a rubber mouthpiece with no baffle. Ideal for combo or big-band playing. |

The Vandoren mouthpiece for tenor saxophone produces a warm, centered sound. Blends well. Vandoren mouthpieces are known for their high, uniform quality-among the best of the mass produced-and are especially popular among clarinetists. The Vandoren line is extensive. It covers all woodwind instruments and offers designs suited to a variety of playing and musical styles. |

I play this mouthpiece on an 82z Yamaha Tenor, and it has an excellent jazz tone. Takes a little more work to produce a sound than my stock MP, but it’s worth it. I Compared it with a Meyer and a Link (both rubber), and liked this one the best. Difficult to make a nice tone for symphonic, but that’s not what it's for. Beware that it does not include a lig or cap.

This mouthpiece is probably the best thing that ever happened to me.(as far as music goes) I play on a Saxophone.com tenor sax model and it roars when the V16 is on it along V16 #3 reeds. I got the T7 which I was surprised to see, was the lowest facing available. But the rich, solid tone this mouthpiece provides is an amazing jazz tone. By talking into the instrument while playing, I can now make a mean, nasty, powerful tone like that raspy sound of Clarence Clemmons. I can listen to the classical jazz stuff and create a prefect match in sound compared to John Coltrane and several other legends. (They’re not lying when they say, "This mouthpiece is designed to imitate the sound response of jazz mouthpieces from the 50's.") All I can say is that if you want an amazing mouthpiece that will allow you to create the prefect TRUE JAZZ sound, choose Vandoren V16.You won't regret it.

This mouthpiece doesn’t have quite the dark, rich sound as it's metal version but still produces a great sound. I use a synthetic studio cut Legere reed on this mouthpiece and now my altissimo and low notes are flawless.

I used to play a rubber link that I chose among around fifty mouthpieces including Bergs, Ponzols, and several other links. For me the true sound of tenor is the rubber link, but all those mouthpieces have the same problem, even if they have a great sound, they are quite hard to control specially for openings like 7 and above. They're quick made and very irregular. The rubber Vandoren V16 has completely solved that control problem, allowing to produce more precise articulation and better nuances, and offering a great Link like sound. Every mouthpiece is perfect and really read friendly. I suggest using it with the Vandoren Optimum mouthpiece.
