"This piece speaks!"

Switching from a metal moutpiece to hard rubber was a hard decision (no pun intended), but it was the right one! I purchased a Vandoren V16 A6M and have loved every second with it! The range of my saxophone has opened tremendously and with a more fluid movement. The piece resonates quickly and provides a sleek and open tone for any player. I'm the prinicipal alto in my university's jazz ensemble and the mouthpiece allows me to cut through the entire band if I want, yet keep it under control when needs be. It's also great for small combo work. If I had to go back and choose again, I'd choose a larger facing, although the A6 speaks very clearly. Try it with size 3 to 3 1/2 Vandoren ZZ reeds and you'll have a winning combination that's sure to captivate and compel your audience!

"Like a quicker responding, slighty brighter Meyer."

Vandoren mpc's are so incredibly consistent. I've played at least a dozen of them by now and they ALL played. The alto V16 mpc looks and plays similar to a Meyer. There looks to be a bit more roll over baffle and the chamber might be a touch smaller. The response is immediate and the sound is fat, loud and complex with just the right amount of brightness. Like I said, I have yet to encounter a "dud", which is pretty remarkable. I like the A6M with a Fibracell Med Hard reed. Very easy to play with; a nice focused and resonant tone. Definitely check this out.

I received this mouthpiece last Christmas of 2005. I love it! It's awesome and I would recommend it to anyone, playing alto sax, in the jazz or marching band. This mouthpiece enables you to play very loud while maintaining a wonderful tone. I had a Selmer S80 but this is by far 10,000 times better for what I want. Hope this (review) helps when making your mouthpiece selection.

This is the best mouthpiece I have ever seen. I got one a while back and I love it. Every one should get one. They are too loud for regular band. Only for solos or jazz or on the field.

The subject line says it all. I've been unable to find an alto mouthpiece that compares with this one for ease of playing and sound quality. The one thing my subject line doesn't say is that I did have to experiment with the different facings and chambers to find the one that was right for me. I ended-up with the A6 S.
