Didn't expect too much from a $40 China. Man, what a shock. The 20" cymbal totally rocks. My guitarists cringe everytime I use it during practice - it's so loud. Absolutely made for live performances, barely needs any mic'ing. This cymbal holds its own, even up against a $180 to $200 Zildjian or Paiste. Get it NOW before Wuhan realizes how great of a cymbal they make and they triple the price.
These are the real deal, no doubt about it. I have the 12" and 16". The 12" is very harsh, but given the right circumstances, is a great accent cymbal. When I got the 16", I liked it so much, I put it up front, ala Charlie Watts, and use it like a regular crash. I'm getting a 20" or 22" next.
I was looking for a different cymbal to add to my bag, one that I could afford that would give me another special sound. I use a variety of size and make splash cymbals, so the 12" china was a great complement to my effect arsenal. I recently played the pit for a high school production of "Godspell" and it added a nice sound to some of the heavier tunes. I'm playing the pit for an 80's Revival show soon and I look forward to using it for that show as well! And the price - OH YEAH! I might invest in the 16" and 20" just to give me even more room to play around with my effects offerings. You won't go wrong with this cymbal!
Traveling and playing almost all cymbals available over the last 20 years, I will always recommend WUHAN china cymbals. I own the 12, 14, 16, 18 (Pair), and 20(pair). They work great on my drumset, blend with all high end symphonic and even the low budget end cymbals. Even with the low price tag, they are phenomenal. Marching Bands in need of alternative drum solo cymbals need to consider these chinas. The company even has a one year no questions asked return policy. I've used these cymbals for years, Even dropped my 20"ers from a ten foot ladder (for a percussion ensemble piece) never cracking one. ( I don't recommend doing that on a daily basis! lol!)
I just got a 20" and I played it, let me tell you that this thing is awesome!! Very low price. Buy a lot of these. I am going to get more sizes.
