Comments about Yamaha 3-Octave Standard Silver Vibraphone with Cover:

I have a Yamaha 3-Octave Standard Silver Vibraphone with Cover. I love it. I have not even started to take classes but I have loved vibes since I first Soul Sauce by Cal Tjader in 1964. First if not for your three year plan, I would never have been able to own this vibraphone. I love playing along with youtube tunes. THANK YOU WWBW.

Good for high school students...

Comments about Yamaha 3-Octave Standard Silver Vibraphone with Cover:

Given that this vibraphone is thousands of dollars less then just about every other vibraphone available both at WWBW and anywhere else, it's a good deal, especially for a high school student. The sound quality isn't wonderful, thin and small bars, and if you use a heavier mallet like the Vic Firth Gary Burton's, you definitely hear the strike... that said, it's compact and very easy to transport for gigging. If you're on a budget and you need something for casual gigging and practice, this is a very good instrument. However, I kind of wish I had waited another year and saved up a couple more grand for an instrument with better sound quality and graduated bars. Also, one thing I wished I would have known is that the pedal is fixed. It does not swivel.
