Choose from the folowing Yamaha Warranties:
Its hard to find a mouthpiece that allows you to keep the ease of the upper register and yet produce a huge bold, dark sound. I was plaing on a 3C, but my tone was awful bright. I switched to the 16C4-GP that came with my Yamaha Xeno, and now my tone is really dark and bold, perfect for concert band, even jazz. My range was not effected at all, in fact my upper register became even more fatter and bold, which is always a great thing. The gold rim feels really soft and comfortable. I only wish that the diameter were a little greater.
I have been using the Yamaha 14A4AGP trumpet mouthpiece for quite a few years. It is by far the best playing mouthpiece I have ever used. The tone quality, range, and flexibility with this mouthpiece are all really fine!
I just purchased this mouthpiece and let me say - it plays better than it looks, and it's the best lookin mouthpiece I've seen. The gold feels smooth and warm. Before this, I played a bach 3c and a regent 2. On both, my lower playing sounded fuzzy and terrible. I picked this up and was playing incredibly smooth. This mouthpiece offers a warm dark tone, and my range has improved from it. I went from a double g to a double c - and this is all in tune.
The feel of this mouthpiece is very similar to the other Yamaha mouthpieces but with a slightly larger body which results in a bit more fullness of sound. If heavyweight mouthpieces are what you prefer this is a good 'in-between' mouthpiece but the most unique things about this mouthpiece are its looks and the gold material in the cup that may feel more comfortable for some people.
I bought the 16C4-GP and I must say it's the best mouthpiece I've ever played. Knowing it to be a 11/2 C equivalent, I thought it would be way too big for me, having played a Bach 5B and 3C, and more recently Yamaha 14c4 with the 14A4a on the side for lead. The 16C4, oddly enough, actually enhanced my upper register compared with the 14C4. It hits my chops at a much more comfortable spot, and it doesn't feel like the edge is cutting into my lips all the time. The gold looks and feels great- the slicker feel works great for me. The added weight makes my entire range feel more solid and powerful, and still allows me to play well at softer volumes. The extra cup room also serves to give me more body to my sound. The best player at my school, who is an All-State trumpeter and has played mouthpieces like GRs and Warburtons, tried it and said he really liked it as well. Be warned, though; if you don't have strong chops this is not the piece for you, and you NEED to use your air efficiently. It punishes you if you try to force out the high range with pressure and blasting, which was something to get used to after playing a 3C, which allowed it. But for me this was a good thing, it's taught me to go about high playing better. On top of everything, it's a GREAT price for a heavy piece with gold plate, many of which run upwards of $100. All in all, if you're a decently strong player, give this a try.
