Yamaha
The NSD 1260M and 1365M are professional, small-diameter snare drums that can be used as main or effect snares. Their shells are constructed of 6-ply 100% Oak, a material known for its brilliant grain and unsurpassed strength and durability. Both models come sheathed in a black gloss Oak finish. The NSD 1365M features a 13 x 6 shell, while the NSD 1260M incorporates a slightly smaller 12 x 6 shell but adds a black-stained Groove-Wedge.

great snare, nice crack, but has overtones and is prone to go off tune.

This is a nice snare drum. It has a nice crack to it when you hit it but it has lots of overtones and tends to go off tune quite easily compared to other drums. Still a good snare though.

I have owned this drum for over two years now, and it is a joy to play. It's a very versatile drum and works perfectly for funk, R&B, hip-hop, and drum'n'bass. There are, however, some disadvantages that the prospective buyer must take into account. First, this drum has quite a lot of overtones. Secondly, as others have said in their reviews, it does tend to fall out of tune when played aggressively. Third, the throw-off and snare wires are disappointing. Some other limitations that must be kept in mind are that playing with brushes can feel a little cramped becuase of the smaller head diameter, and if you like to position your snare low, the depth of this drum may be a problem. (In this case you might want to consider buying an extra low snare stand to accomodate.) Even though they missed some important details with this model, Yamaha still makes a quality drum that is well worth the money, and it is very easy to modify the drum in many ways to suit your personal tastes.
