Yes, there are other student models that are cheaper, but the YTS-23 is worth the money. The overall build quality is good enough so people learning the saxophone don't have to worry about it easily breaking on them. The key action, while obviously not as smooth as higher end tenors, doesn't feel clunky.

This saxophone is a great sax for beginners. I got mine 4 years ago, and even after high school marching band, and jazz band, it is playing great. It really holds up well. It also is very comfortable to play, and the key layout feels natural. The sound from this horn is also great. It's rich, and balanced. This isn’t the best choice if you are going for a really specific sound, but for someone who wants to pick up a tenor to learn, or for a gift for a student, this is perfect.
