I got my 902 during my Junior Year of High School. It was a replacement for my old beginner Buffet. Although, I still used my Buffet for Marching Band, I wanted something better for concert band. I tried a couple different brands, but just really liked how the 902 felt and sounded. I have just never gotten on board with the Selmer crowd. But, the 902 is definitely worth it. It may not have a high G key, but you can easily play it without the key. The action on this horn is nice and tight. I would make sure to add risers to the left hand palm keys, as they can be a little low for someone with big hands (like me). But, other than that, the whole horn is just very comfortable. I highly recommend it.
This a great choice for anyone who wants to step up from a student or intermediate sax and would like one they can have for a good long time reliably. This saxophone is though, one needs to remember, so do NOT expose it to the elements or be rough with it, this is not a student saxophone! The response is great and octaves can alternated with ease as long as the player knows how to do it. Both low and high registers are very accessible and powerful. The sound is warm, perhaps because of the bronze body, but that's for the buyer to decide. I would recommend a lot of maintenance to keep this saxophone looking and sounding perfect. I still have yet to put risers on the palm keys, but I have assumed that would be a great addition to this already superb saxophone!!
