I've had this saxophone for about seven years (purchased from ww&bw). I'm a concert saxist and I find it to be absolutely amazing. The tone is exceptionally warm, focused, and rich. It's overtone series is impeccably in tune. It is centered and clear at every dynamic from pppp to ffff. The altissimo is sublime. The scale is perfectly tuned. It speaks very easy. The middle D plays/sounds like the rest of the horn. However, I have found this instrument to be very much a classical saxophone. It blends incredibly well in symphonies and chamber ensembles (while remaining able to soar above them), but it isn't well suited for every style of jazz. With a jazz group, it will have the clear, bright timbre more traditionally associated with the soprano than the alto. That may be fine for some, but if you're looking for a brash, garish, brassy, honkin'/squawkin' sound, this is not the saxophone for you.
I had a Selmer U.S.A. and I up graded to this horn, and I love it. My band director has one and I played his, and then I knew that I wanted one. It is the best horn for the money. And I added a V16 mouth piece for marching band and I can make it yell. We march around 60 in our band and there are only 2 altos (so) it helped much.
