Woodwind and Brasswind product specialists recently attended the 106th NAMM Show 2008 in Anaheim, Calif., to learn more about bringing Woodwind & Brasswind customers the newest and best musical products.

NAMM, which originally stood for National Association of Music Merchants, hosts the annual show to display popular and new products from manufacturers and distributors from around the world. More than 1,500 companies and 88,000 registrants registered for NAMM Show, with more than 10,000 registrants from outside the U.S.
Woodwind & Brasswind representatives enjoyed the four-day event, which featured a jammed-packed schedule of events with celebrity appearances by Stevie Wonder, Slash, Robert Downey Jr., Bill Murray and Dave Navarro.

While the presentations and performances were entertaining and educational, WWBW specialists met with vendors to establish goals for the future of the musical instrument industry. “We want to bring our customers the best deals,” Brian Heinsohn, director of merchandising for Woodwind & Brasswind, said.
The NAMM show highlighted thousands of new products and Woodwind & Brasswind is excited to offer these products to our musicians in 2008 and beyond.
In percussion, Woodwind & Brasswind will be offering brand new Mapex Quantum Marching Drums. “This quantum set will be everywhere,” Dan Degucz, percussion buyer for Woodwind & Brasswind, said. The Mapex Quantum Marching Drums feature rugged frames and walnut construction.

In strings, Ren Wei Shi, master violin maker, developed a new series of professional violin strings, the Artist Series, which he will use on his own instruments. These new strings will also be available on Woodwind & Brasswind’s String Centre website. They feature a very warm and powerful tone at a price affordable to even the novice, according to David Rumpf, strings buyer for Woodwind & Brasswind.
In woodwinds, Woodwind & Brasswind is pleased to present Sonare and Azumi flutes. These flutes are pre-professional and feature a professional head and intermediate body, Scott Kurtzweil, woodwind buyer for Woodwind & Brasswind, said.
In brass, Woodwind & Brasswind will be adding the new series of Gard suspension gig bags and wheelie bags. These instrument bags are designed to offer maximum protection by suspending the instrument in the center of the gig bag to prevent any damage when the bag suffers any impact, Don Sumwalt, brass buyer for Woodwind & Brasswind, said.

While not a new product, Woodwind & Brasswind will be adding the Stomvi Custom Trumpet Mouthpiece Kit, which contains interchangeable mouthpiece cups to customize the performer’s mouthpiece to their particular playing needs.

NAMM Show 2008 was a great success for Woodwind & Brasswind instrument specialists who look forward to offering customers the latest and great products. These new products are only a few examples of the hundreds of new items Woodwind & Brasswind will be offering in 2008.
