OVERVIEW

Precision play, vintage sound.

The Adams F5 is combination of vintage sound concepts combined with advancements in modern technology. This instrument features Adams' short action valves and a specially designed bell that complements the chassis. The Adams short-action valves are a straight, direct-air column ported valve-set with a compact feel and fast action. The special bell's profound resonance makes for a pure, rich, warm and very fluid flugelhorn. This horn is equipped with a full copper bell, which further enhances the instrument's lush and rich timbre.

Comments about Adams F5 Selected Series Professional Bb Flugelhorn:

I purchased this instrument about 2 months ago and absolutely love it!!! I already was playing and Adams F5 with a gold brass bell and thought it was the best horn I've ever played...UNTIL...I tried this model!!! It blew away my GB Model!! I'm a professional player and have probably owned in excess of 250 horns. THIS one is...BY FAR...the BEST instrument I have ever owned. It seems to play itself!! I've own ed other copper belled flugels but they have always been to muddy/trombonish sounding for my taste. The Adams F5 all copper has a very nice center to it and definitely is in NO WAY muddy soun ding. The short-stroke valves are amazing and there's not a note on the horn that's out of tun e. I'm one of those players that uses the upper register on a flugel and I was ecstatic at how easy this flugel plays up there. Depending on the depth mouthpiece you use it can go from VERY warm sounding with a deep piece to bright enough for a big band setting with a shallower flugelhorn piece. Since I do ALOT of jazz trio work I use a Warburton FLX cup and it gives me exactly the sound that I hear in my head that I've been wanting for years!!! BTW...it comes with TWO pipes that accept the same large morse taper. The difference between the 2 is that they have different venturi's which make a huge difference in the blow. I prefer the more open pipe which is marked with 3 rings on the end as opposed to 2 rings on the tighter pipe. The horn also comes with a gorgeous leather trimmed gig bag that is VERY protective. I know this instrument has a fairly high price tag but IMO it is worth every Penney that I paid for it!!! Not to mention that the flugel is a GORGEOUS piece of work that the people at Adams have created!!! Try it...you'll like it!!!!
