Switch on the built-in limiters and enjoy recordings free from overload clipping. The headphone output-complete with a separate volume control-and the direct switch allow for low-latency personal recording. You can even switch to Mono mode for accurate mixing.
CONNECT & CREATE
iO Mix offers a wealth of audio connection to make the most of any situation. Each input includes a gain control knob to provide proper recording levels. Switchable low-cut filters reduce low-frequency interference-such as noise from microphone stands-in both live mixing and recording situations. Input 1 features a level switch to accept an electric guitar or bass directly-ideal for using iPad based effects! The main Left and Right outputs are balanced 1/4" jacks, perfect for connection to any sound system.
iO Mix is Core Audio-compliant, allowing you to use it with virtually any app in the App Store. Plus, your iPad's Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, AirPlay, and 3G connectivity allow you to tailor your sound at a moment's notice-or playback audio through compatible wireless speakers. Comments about Alesis iO Mix:
I own two iPads so I decided to purchase the IO Dock 2 and the IO Mix. The IO Dock 2 is MIDI capable so it can help to interface the iPad with my studio quite easily. It is also a fairly quiet unit which makes it very useable as a sound module in the studio too.
I wanted the IO Mix because I wanted a single unit capable of recording 4 simultaneous inputs while mobile as easily as possible. Given the cost and sample rate limitation of this unit, I was not expecting anything stellar but I was expecting something useable for demo purposes at the very least.
When I powered on the IO Mix, the power LED would not light but it did power on. I proceeded to test the mic pre's and noticed a hi-pitch noise whenever I switched on the phantom power. Also, there was a lot of hiss even without phantom power. The faders and pots were quite loose and were already quite noisy whenever moved.
As I mentioned, for the price I was not expecting the best sound in the world but I was expecting to at least be able to get a usable demo recording out of it. That was not even possible - at least not on the unit that I received. Maybe it was just the unit I received but I did not want to take a chance so MF worked with me to send me an IO Dock 2 instead.
Kudos to MF customer service! You guys rock!!
