The Allora AATR-125 is a very nicely priced horn with a warm rich sound. It takes some getting used to, but its not to long before you're able to tackle the harder pieces. While it doesn't have quite the projection or tone of some more expensive trumpets; in its price range it is unbeatable.

Ok...

The third valve slide was not adjustable, so was not good for my beginner who has smaller hands. Also, the valves were pretty noisy. We returned in hopes to find something better.

Comments about Allora AATR-125 Series Classic Bb Trumpet:

I bought this as a starter trumpet that would take me up to intermediate playing since I am just starting out (sax player by trade). Much better than the Olds Ambassador Cornet I was playing. The valves run great, but the first valve was sticky for a couple days. Can't believe I'm saying this, but the valves ran smoother than the $2,500 Bach Strad I looked at in Meyer Music (probably just needed some lubrication; they were a bit gritty). I had my Dad, a band director for 13 years and avid brass player, take a look at the trumpet and he loved it. Didn't have a bad thing to say about it other than it's a bit sharp in the upper registry. He is apparently used to the opposite. I'm looking at the Allora ATR-580 Chicago next for a Reversed Lead trumpet since this one is flawless and at a great price. My case wasn't dented like some others mentioned, but I will probably get a new case anyway so I can take mutes with me.

Better than expected, but does not compare to strad/xeno

Comments about Allora AATR-125 Series Classic Bb Trumpet:

This got me back into playing after putting up trumpet for ten years. The exterior is nice looking, but there are some obvious deficiencies with a horn that was sub $500 new; valves need to be thoroughly cleaned/lubed right away, and they still stick regularly if not religiously lubed. 1st and third valve slides are not smooth operating. Tuning slide leaks spit out of it from the slide interface, and watch those spit valves, the screw loosens on its own. Mouthpiece that comes with it is poorly made, there's machine marks on it, it's not polished smooth inside. Sound is pretty decent, like I said, it got me back into playing. Overall still a 4-star rating, you get what you pay for, and this is what you should expect for $500 or less. I've compered it to a Yamaha Custom Xeno horn and there's no contest; fit/finish, quality, and playability are very noticeably better with the yamaha. But, for ballers on a budget, this will definitely do the job.

Comments about Allora AATR-125 Series Classic Bb Trumpet:

I bought this trumpet for my grandson but naturally I had to try it out to see that it was okay. It plays very well. Naturally, you must clean it and oil it first. My grandson loves it and let his trumpet teacher try it and he loves it. You would have to spend 1500 or 1600 to do better. Thank you WWBW for a great deal.

Comments about Allora AATR-125 Series Classic Bb Trumpet:

I bought this trumpet alongside the Allora flugelhorn a few weeks ago. Although I am not a regular trumpet player, I am an experienced tenor brass player and was able to hit from low F# to high C with the included mouthpiece in my first few minutes of trying it. Intonation seems to be fine, when the player plays the horn as they would any other trumpet--adjusting their slides accordingly. I took this trumpet to a local screamer, and while he preferred his own trumpet due to its relative light weight, he played up to an F above the staff on this one. He said this trumpet is a good deal and rivalled the Yamaha intermediate models he was used to seeing. I have no complaints with the instrument.

Comments about Allora AATR-125 Series Classic Bb Trumpet:

I was semi pro years ago, on music scholarship, played gigs, but dropped out as I lived in international oilfield construction camps for too many years. As a come back player after decades, I didn't want to spend too much $ before I could see how it goes, so I bought this during the pre-Christmas sale. I've had professional horns and I must say this horn made a very favourable impression on me. Good horn! Great for students, or pros who need an inexpensive but good horn - you could gig with this horn. I'm happy with this horn!
