OVERVIEW

Special finishes on remarkable plastic trumpets.

Allora's AERE Series of composite trumpets are lightweight, affordable and surprisingly robust instruments, viable for beginners, intermediate students and beyond. Designed with True Note Technology, they combine metal with ABS plastic to create a structurally sound instrument with a unique blended brass instrument tone. These trumpets are available in 11 different colors including metallic finishes exclusive to AERE. This item consists of a dropdown that shows all of the metallic finishes. Choose the one that suits you best.

They are the only plastic trumpets which feature true stainless steel valves (just like their brass counterparts). Weighing in at half the weight of brass trumpets, it is a perfect solution for musicians looking to shed a few pounds. The complete AERE Trumpet Package includes a mouthpiece, deluxe in bell stand, maintenance kit and custom carrying bag. Perfect for anyone from the experienced players and students alike.

When plastic trombones, trumpets and flutes began to hit the market, the initial response was skepticism. The surprising thing is that experienced players tended to give a ringing endorsement of these instruments not only as an inexpensive instrument to learn on, but as a nice horn for a pro or an experienced player to have in his or her arsenal. The Aere ATR130 is a great sounding, good playing trumpet that is lightweight, available in cool colors, and is easy and fun to play. You'll be astonished at how good it sounds.

Developed from durable ABS plastic the AERE trumpets and trombones are lighter and more affordable than their brass counterparts, but still function as truly exceptional and versatile instruments.Like all Allora instruments, the new AERE Series is designed with True Note Technology, combining metal with ABS plastic to create structurally sound instruments with a unique blended brass instrument tone. AERE also benefits from a unique plating process that enables the instruments to radiate with an outstanding metallic finish. From the football field to the concert stage the look of these instruments get almost as much attention as the sound.

although this horn won't take the place of my pro Bach, it's actually a lot of fun to carry around for practice without worrying about it getting damaged. The metallic color gives it a little less 'plastic' look - and it's amazingly light. Very nice that the package includes a trumpet stand. Love it!

I've got 7 or 8 horns I use regularly ( I play semi-professionally), so I got this just for fun. My red one came yesterday - here's my impressions from one day of playing. It's very light (when I play it a while, even my lightweight Bach feels heavy!), it looks cool and it sounds surprisingly good for plastic. You have to give them kudos for the design, affordability and "cool" factor. You sound like yourself, just not quite as bright, like playing in a room with bad acoustics. Intonation is good. Response is pretty good, especially at lower dynamic levels, but it gets a bit stuffy in lower and upper registers at anything forte or above. It has a pleasant mellow sound at low and medium volume levels - sort of halfway between a trumpet and flugel. But if you try to equal your sound on a brass horn, you'll work too hard. My valves are still loosening up. The provided mouthpiece, which feels like a Bach 5 b or c, plays ok. You can put your usual mp in, but it doesn't help the sound that much. Shallow cup m/p's just make it sound more like a toy. So it is not the equal of a brass trumpet, and it doesn't pretend to be. You don't get the power and projection. It would look cool in marching band and be easy to carry (and not dent) but the section would lose 25% of their volume. And I don't think I'd start a student off on this - you want them producing their best sound they can from the get-go, they'd be much better off to start with a used Bundy. But if it's all someone could afford, it would be better than nothing. Overall, it's a lot of fun, it should clean easily, and never corrode. I expect to use it for practice when traveling, or this is the one I can let my grandkids try to play when they beg to play and handle one. Nerd/technical alert: this shows that it truly is the shape of air column (lead pipe, cylindrical bore, bell taper, etc.) and the standing wave in the horn that produces most of the characteristic trumpet sound - not so much the type of brass, silver or laquer finish, etc. So overall, it's worth the money if you only need it for fun, or as a spare horn to have in the car or on an airplane to warm up or travel with. I'd play a song or two on it, but I wouldn't take it to a gig as the only horn (unless it were in a 3rd world country)

I play it for pep band and marching band in the stands. I am a band director and I like to play along with the kids sometimes but don't want to take my good horn outside. Sounds decent enough for pep band and the colors really pop!

Suitable for hanging on your Christmas tree as an ornament. The carrying case it comes in is very nice, as is the trumpet stand which is included. Those two almost make it worth it.

Comments about Allora ATR-1301M Aere Metallic Series Plastic Bb Trumpet:

This is a horn I got mostly for fun, and one that I can let my grandkids try to play when they ask and I don't have to worry about drops and dents. I take it along when travelling to warm up on. Though it has a surprisingly trumpet-like sound, it still lacks the response and brilliance of a brass instrument, especially with the plastic mouthpiece. Played softly, it's flugel - like. With a standard brass m/p, the sound improves somewhat. I did find that playing this horn makes me more pitch-center conscious - it's the only way to get any kind of bright sound out of it - and that's a good thing. It might be a fun horn for a small-venue jazz gig, like a bar or restaurant, because it won't cut through on top of everything. But get this horn for fun - in my opinion, it would be a mistake to give this to a beginner, or to take it to any gig where you need to play loud or bright. You'd just wear yourself out.

I had said earlier that using your own m/p doesn't improve the sound that much, but like some other reviewer said, using my own m/p, in my case a Bach 5c, does make the horn sound a bit brighter.

i had to send it back due to a broken water-key. got a new one and the same water-key promptly broke just taking the horn out of the bag. i duct taped it up and it works, but man this thing is fragile. When it works it's very fun to play.

WHAT A GREAT SENSATION TO PLAY THIS ALLORA PLASTIC HORN

Comments about Allora ATR-1301M Aere Metallic Series Plastic Bb Trumpet:

Wow...I was surprised to see how well this plastic horn plays. The intonation was very good I checked it on the tuner on Smart Music program . It was right in there on the low and medium registers. After trying different mouthpieces I settled on my 1 1/2 C Bach Megatone . It made the balance of the horn feel great I also added Bach grime gutters on the bottom caps so oil will not get on my clothes (they should have put a oil drip ring inside the bottom caps like they are on my Bach Strat.). The horn is good for a experienced player and might be difficult for a beginner. It responds very easily to fast valve action. I am using Ultra Pure oil and Ultra pure slide grease. I really am surprised how well this horn plays, great for leaving it in the livingroom and playing along with the stereo. This will encourage you to use it more for practise at home
