My Aunt purchased one for me as a graduation present and I was excited to see it. I mean it is red and blue. However, as I played it I felt as though I was forcing the sound where as my Getzen sounded excellent. The is a good trumpet for an Intermediate player who wants some flash, but a serious performer will probably spend extra to get a Bach.
Do not purcahse this instrument if you want something that will sound good or look like you know what you are doing. Parents often buy this instrument for their child thinking it is a "neat looking horn" at a decent price. The sound quality is shallow and not nearly as good as other beginner trumpets from Yamaha or Bach. The build quality (while improving) is still not acceptable; you can expect some kind of repair needed within the first year. Finally, the color is ridiculous. Anyone playing this instrument will stand out like a sore thumb. Remember this about musical instruments: you get what you pay for.
I've had this trumpet for a year now so I've pretty much found its goods and bads. The paint job will make you stand out wherever you go; Though the valves are nickel and are supposedly & easier to use, the FIRST valve will constantly freeze----and if you're thinking of playing this in Marching Band, PROTECT IT FROM THE SUN or ICE, for intense weather can really freeze your valves and slides; The mouth piece(7C) is good for beginners (many listeners at gigs said it gave a dark, mellow tone), and if you can hit high G's+ on that [mouthpiece] then I suggest switching to a better mouthpiece, such as something in the As and 10+ for kicking your range up 3 to 6 notes higher! The paint can wear off easily if you aren't careful with this trumpet, and the tuning slide can slide off TOO EASILY if you pull it a little too hard, which is how dents can be easily noticed with this trumpet. I LIKE this trumpet because this looks good, and sounds good, but is not the most durable (ESPECIALLY WITH EXTREME WEATHER)and could definately use a better mouth piece than the one it comes with.
