Pros

  • Sounding great

Cons

  • Don't know yet how long they last

Best Uses

  • Jazz with rubber mouthpiece

Comments about Andreas Eastman Esperto Alto Saxophone Reeds:

I am using them in my 1917 Conn Chu Berry with a Brilhart Tonalin (Great Neck) MPC. Great responsiveness and crisp tone. Keep in mind that different mouthpieces will work best with different reeds but this one is a fantastic combination!

Comments about Andreas Eastman Esperto Alto Saxophone Reeds:

I wanted to buy a box of 2.5 Venutos but they were out of stock. So I bought a box of 2.5 and 3.0 Espertos instead. I tried them with a traditional Meyer #5 hard rubber mouthpiece on a Reference 54 Selmer and Mark 6 Selmer Alto. I was able to use about 5 out of 10 reeds from each box without any issues. Overall I found the 2.5 reeds a little to soft and the 3.0 reeds a little to hard. I will use the 2.5 reeds when I need to play really soft. I will keep practicing on the 3.0 reeds until they are soft enough for performances.

      Eh...

Comments about Andreas Eastman Esperto Alto Saxophone Reeds:

I took the Eastman Challenge. These reeds didn't live up to my expectations. Specifically, they don't give you very much attack power. There is no good way to describe it, but I don't like the feel if compared to a la voz or a select jazz. They make decent practice reeds, but personally I wouldn't take these out to play in front of other people. Also, the reed protectors that these come in aren't very good, they're not flat, and that will cause the reeds to warp.

Took the Eastman Challenge and Got a Great Box of Reeds

Comments about Andreas Eastman Esperto Alto Saxophone Reeds:

I took advantage of the Eastman Reeds promo along with buying a box of D'Addario reeds as well. The sound I got from each reed was fairly consistent, either perfect or a little too bright. The cane seemed like good quality, and I didn't hear any inconsistencies across registers like I experience occasionally in other reed brands. If you're in a rut with reeds, I would recommend giving Eastman reeds a try. I had slight cosmetic issues with two of my reeds, hence the 4 stars.
